Duo thinks about Heero and Relena, saddened that Heero doesn't love him... or does he?

Duo sat with the other pilots, minus Wufei, and Relena at the beach. It was truly a peaceful and beautiful day, thanks to the gundams and Relena.
Duo looked over and Heero and Relena and sighed. They looked so happy together.
'A happiness I'll never get to taste...' Duo thought.
He envied Relena because she had Heero. He envied her because he loved her. He envied her because...
'Because she can hold him and hear sweet words of affection from him...'
Duo frowned and looked away. He couldn't bare the site of Relena hugging and holding Heero as lovers do. He felt so alone. Wufei had Sally, Quatre had Trowa, Relena had...
"Heero..." Duo whispered felt his heart ache.
'She doesn't deserve him... she never truly loved him. He's just an object of her wanting... just a toy.' Duo thought angrily as he clenched his fist.
He looked over at Trowa and Quatre, and the content looks of love on there faces as they held each other. Duo gave them a mean look and turned his attention to the ground.
Duo sighed.
'No... she does love him.' he thought.
"Isn't it a beautiful day, Duo?" Relena smiled at him.
"Hn. Yeah... I guess." Duo muttered.
"What's wrong, Duo?" Quatre said.
'Everything...'
"Nothing, Q. Don't worry about it." he said, plastering a fake grin.
Quatre smiled.
Heero examined Duo's behaviour.
'He's lying... I thought he never lies...' Heero thought as Relena babbled about meaningless things.
Heero had thought that he loved Relena, but, he was having second thoughts. He never truly understood love, after all. There were different types of love, too. Maybe he does love her, but not like the way he thought before.
"Don't you agree, Heero?" Relena said, tugging on his sleeve a little.
"Hn? Oh, yeah..." Heero said in an empty, meaningless tone.
Relena just continued her squalking.
Heero just looked at her.
'Do I love her?' he thought.
'Who is it... that I love?' he thought, staring at her.
'Oh look... now they're making lovey dovey faces...' Duo thought, his heart feeling as if it was being stabbed.
Trowa looked over at him.
"Hey, Duo? Are you okay? You're unusually quiet..." he said.
"Yeah, I'm okay, Trowa!" Duo smiled.
"Alright. Just making sure." Trowa said.
The fake smile disappeared.
'Oh, yeah, I'm perfectly fine... even though my heart is being ripped apart before my eyes.' he thought sourly.
"Heero? Are you listening to me, Heero?" Relena said, staring at Heero.
Heero said nothing, and nodded.
Relena smiled and planted a kiss on his lips.
"Hn." Heero said.
Duo, at that moment, stood up.
"I'm taking a walk..." he said in a bitter tone and stormed away.
"Wait, Duo..." Quatre called after him, getting up.
Trowa pulled him back down and shook his head.
"But... Trowa..." Quatre argued.
"He can take care of himself, Quatre. He's a big boy." Trowa smiled.
Quatre giggled.
Heero looked at Duo walk away out of view and got up.
"Wait, Heero, where are you going?" Relena said.
"After Duo." Heero said then ran to find Duo.
"Heero would never love me, he's not into guys..." Duo muttered.
"Besides, all I want him to be is happy, and he will be happier with Relena, a young, beautiful, rich girl that can give him anything he desires, than... than a stupid street rat orphan like me..." Duo said, tears rising to his cobalt eyes.
"I can't see why... I can't see why I love her..." Heero said to no one.
"She doesn't seem to truly care... I don't seem to care either in that fashion..." he continued.
"I... I don't love her like that." he said.
A rain drop fell on the tip of his nose. He looked up and saw dark skies.
"I better find Duo..." he said as the rain started to fall more and harder.
Duo sat under a tree, his knees to his chest, crying quietly.
"No one loves me..." he said quietly under his breath as the rain poured down on him.
"No one could ever love Shinigami..." he sighed, brushing away some of his tears.
"DUO!" Heero called out.
"DUO! YOU BAKA! WHERE ARE YOU?" he continued calling.
"Heero..." Duo whispered.
"He came looking for me..." he smiled.
"But... he loves Relena." he frowned once again, and began sobbing.
Heero heard the faint noise of someone crying and followed the sad sound.
He saw Duo crying... but why?
'Duo...' he thought, his heart hurting at the sight.
"Heero... Heero would never love me the way he loves Relena..." Duo said between sobs.
Heero widened his eyes.
"No matter how much I love him..." he said.
"Duo..." he said softly.
'That's who I love...' Heero thought.
Duo stood up quickly, almost tripping and started wiping his tears away.
"Hee-Heero?!" he exclaimed in shock.
Heero walked up to him nodding.
"Were you crying?" Heero said in monotone.
"N-no... of course not! Boys don't cry!" Duo grinned.
"You have tears..."
"It's the rain, Heero, it's just the rain." he said, his voice sounding shakey.
"Duo, I thought you never lied." Heero said.
"I..."
"Shh... you were crying over me, weren't you?"
"Y-yes..." Duo said looking down at the ground.
Heero lifted his chin up so his gaze met his own.
"Look at me when I talk to you." Heero said sharply.
"Go-gomen, Heero." Duo said.
"Why were you crying, Duo?" Heero's voice softening.
"You would hate me if I told you..."
"I don't think so... please, Duo, tell me."
"I..."
Heero's gaze intensified.
"I love you." Duo managed to say, and tears rolled down his rain moistened face.
Heero smiled. "I love you too."
Duo narrowed his eyes and pushed him away.
"LIAR! You know, Heero Yuy, you're a very cruel individual! You toy with me and say you love me,
while you know... YOU LOVE RELENA!" He exclaimed angrily, the tears never ceasing.
"Duo... it's not true." Heero said, his face softening.
"Wh-what?!"
"I thought I did... I do love her, but I love her only as a brother and a friend would." he said.
"Really?"
"Yes, she reminded me so much of that little girl and her dog..." Heero said, tears rising to his own eyes.
"Little girl and her dog?" Duo said.
"I destroyed her... I killed an innocent, naive little girl... Relena reminded me of her. So you see?" Heero said.
Duo was silent and shivering.
Heero walked over to him and hugged him.
"Duo no baka... I love you." he smiled his prussian blue eyes gazing into Duo's wide cobalt eyes.
"Hee-heero..." Duo said.
Heero kissed him sweetly.
Duo's eyes were wide with shock.
"How... how will you tell Relena?!"
"If she loved me herself, she would understand."
Duo smiled and hugged him happily and rested his head onto his shoulder.
