The Ainu. Scholars say that they were one of the first groups of people to live in Japan. As of now, around 15,000 or so live in northern Japan and in some parts of Russia. The most popular Ainu characters are Nakoruru and Rimururu of "Samurai Spirits".

Indecent or sexy. The term doesn't really imply a vulgar feeling. Some ecchi series are "Love Hina", "Mahoutsukai Tai!" and "Ranma".

An eyecatch is a shot or an animated segment shown to indicate a half-way point in animated series from Japan. Most series will show one. If you are still confused, "Love Hina's" eyecatch, seen below, has an onsen shot of Naru, Kitsune, Motoko, Shinobu and Kaolla.
