Character's name: Sheridan Keir Devine (O Daimhin)
Appearance: A lanky creature of roughly 6'ft, Keir weighs-out at a scarce 146lbs. Shaggy, bloody red hair frames an almost effeminate face of pale, near-deathly flesh. Despite those soft features, his body is made up of rock-hard whipcord and sinew. Over that firm build like a second skin is usually accentuating leather, although more relaxed styles do grace his closet. The black of his clothes, pale palor, and blood-crimson hair are only off-set by soulful silver eyes and a youthful, elfin appearance that belong to another person. A laticework of tiny white scars mar the 20yr old's once flawless ivory shoulderblades, one of two cruel reminders of a dead life. The other is a simple moonstone pendant hung from a leather thong.
Personality: A bitter youth with a cruel past, Keir uses his dark personality to fend off most anybody. Plagued by Keraunophobia (Fear of thunder and lightning), Arachibutyrophobia (Fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouth), Athazagoraphobia (Fear of being forgotten, ignored, or forgetting), Isolophobia (Fear of solitude, being alone), Cheimatophobia (Fear of cold), Pagophobia (Fear of ice or frost), Cleisiophobia (Fear of being locked in an enclosed place), Eurotophobia (Fear of female genitalia), Novercaphobia (Fear of step-mother), Porphyrophobia (Fear of the color purple), Ligyrophobia (Fear of loud noises), Nosocomephobia (Fear of hospitals), Ecclesiophobia (Fear of church), Merinthophobia (Fear of being bound or tied up), Rhabdophobia (Fear of being severely punished or beaten by a rod), Staurophobia (Fear of crosses or the crucifix), Agraphobia (Fear of sexual abuse), and Virginitiphobia (Fear of rape). All but Keraunophobia and Arachibutyrophobia developed after a particularily stressful event when he was ten. Keir tries to keep to himself most of the time, although his ever-present nightmares lead to a night spent with the bottle. He doesn't like being alone, and will pursue company whenever possible, although he tries not to admit it. He especially hates his first name, as when coupled with elfin features and a lean build led to much teasing and tormenting as a child; therefore he prefers to use his middle name above his first. Keir is a budding artist, only ever feeling happy with a sketch pad and pencil in hand. Unless, of course, he's near animals of the canine sort. The young irishman also has an affinity - bordering on obsession - with sharp, metal objects such as knives, as well as precious stones.
Power-balls: Secured to broad black bands that surround each of Keir's wrists.
Power-ball 1 (right wrist):
- A shield that acts like a protective blanket, surrounding Keir in a pulsing, deflective energy and guards against most any type of attack. It coats the body like a liquid, second skin and pulses between scarlet and sapphire which makes him appear to glow in the dark. The shield also acts as a healer once a battle is finished or Keir is unconsious. The activation word is "Kulgen."
- An ability to fade in or out, move silently and invisibly over long distances or basically "shadow-dance." Keir essentially becomes one with the shadows, using the darkness to transport every little molecule of his body from one place to another. It should also allow him to transport others who are in physical contact with him, in theory. The only downside to this stealth ability is that after one use, Keir is useless and unconscious, or near to it. The activation word is "Barra."
Power-ball 2 (left wrist):
-A slender sword measuring the length of Keir's leg, the blade is a kris-style with wickedly sharp edges. The sword, stemming from Keir's own Irish Celtic heretige, reflects the twistedness that is emboddied within his soul. The activation word is "Killian."
- Guantlet-type daggers that cover the backs of both hands, becoming a fixture to Keir's hands. They are horridly sharp, clawlike blades that will rend a victim or opponent to ribbons with each swipe. Although the cuts would not be mortally deep, the appendages have the ability to plunge deep enough to severe arteries. The activation word is "Maelthra."
History: Born in a small village in the north-western section of Ireland, to the mayor of the village and a simple farmgirl. Keir's mother died four years after giving birth, never having recovered from the traumatic experience. Before dying, however, she gave her son a small moonstone pendant, an heirloom from her mother's family. Keir's father remarried a less favorable woman who went out of her way to ridicule and hurt the boy. Coupled with the anamosity he received from the other boys about his looks, his circumstance of birth, and name, Keir turned into a shy introvert. The tormenting reached it's pinnacle when he was ten, although the memories are loosely suppressed at most times. The only resurfacing memories occur at night in the form of nightmares, leading to alcohol and insomnia. It was during or closely after that event that his powers awakened, something both a blessing and a curse. He was forced from the village as a witch (Rustic Ireland, what can we say?) and has spent the years since then wandering aimlessly from place to place, finally ending up in Asriath by some fluke of fate. He knows that he isn't the same person, and has changed his appearance to suit the person that he has become. "I'm not that person. That person died in that church. I am not that person."
