My Country Tis of Thee

This block of ink wont run faster than
The blood you have stained me with.
How many oceans must we paddle through
Until we discover it was all a myth?
Fables of my childhood, like Santa but
More like Jesus
And questions that deliberate in my head
Were never enough to save us.

Well Ive got a plan for the human race
Not sure if its worth a try
But I will kick back here in my la-z boy recliner
And be damned if I wont die
See it was all a joke, and its all on us
Like birth control and school
And people that I crave to meet
Because their profile makes them seem cool

When will the world stop hitting the snooze
When will we learn we have the right to choose
And nothings really black and white
But shades of gray under different light

You can take my money and take my clothes
But you can not take my soul
For the only way to love myself I will only know
Never endearing candidates who can not fix their own lives
With lesbian daughters and distilled tap water
And cheating on Tuesdays wives.

How can we expect to turn the country over to one person?
Or a group who knows not what it feels like
To be free yet all alone

We can only save ourselves
Well we can sure put it to use
The knowledge of the 9mm trigger
Or the tying of the noose
