Here are a few of my own poems I would like to share:
A True American
"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free."
If you are tired, I will support you.
If you are hungry, I will feed you.
If you are suffocating, I will free you.
If you are buried, I will dig you.
If you are lonely, I will stay with you.
If you are lost, I will find you.
I may not know your family,
I may not know your life,
I may not even know your name,
but I will help you.
I will help you, for I am
courageous, brave, selfless, kind.
I may wish to run, I may wish to flee,
but I will remain at your side.
I am a true hero,
I am an American volunteer.
This poem is dedicated to all of the selfless volunteers who have been working non-stop to search for missing Americans. We are thinking of you.
back to topOne Day, Again
With the passing of time
They will be together
Days, months, years
Decades, centuries, millenniums
One day they will meet
Again
One day they will fall in love
Again
One day they will finally be happy
Again
One day they will die
Again
One day they will live
Again
With the passing of time
One day, again.
back to topOur Soul
No one taught us how to pray.
No one taught us how to bleed.
No one taught us how to sing.
No one taught us how to see.
No one taught us how to kill.
No one taught us how to cry.
No one taught us how to die.
Our soul showed us.
Our soul showed us,
how to pray, how to bleed,
how to sing, how to see,
how to kill, how to cry,
how to die.
Our soul showed us how to feel.
back to topFear
Fear.
What is fear?
Fear is a pitch black room.
Trapped inside, with no escape.
Blinded by the blackness.
I hear scratching in the corners.
I taste fear in the air.
Fear.
Fear is the unknown.
Fear is the uncertainty of how, or why,
Or what?
Fear is that hole in your heart,
That lump in your throat.
Fear.
Fear is knowing there is something there.
But you are unable to see its blood red eyes,
To feel its clammy touch,
To smell its putrid breath,
To hear its ghostly whisper,
To touch its bony skeleton,
To sense its sinister soul.
Fear is the unknown.
Fear.
This poem was written by me and my friend Lauren.
back to topLove
Pretty as a rose.
Delicate as a flower.
Softer than a kitten.
Fiercer than a tiger.
The one you seek, the one you've found.
It is a dream,
it is a nightmare.
With the wings of an eagle,
Or the speed of a tortoise.
It is a star, it is a wish.
Love.
Love may have smiled down on you,
but it can stab you in the back.
Love is an illusion, love is a song.
Love is the one pure emotion.
Love is right behind us,
but now it's gone.
back to topWonder
I wonder where the sun goes when it sets.
I wonder why the sky is so blue,
why the grass is so green,
why ice is so cold,
why my cocoa burns my tongue,
why the moon is always changing,
and why the lights turn on.
I wonder, with my childlike innocence,
I wonder, making up my own reasons,
I wonder, with wide eyes and questionable face,
I wonder.
But now, my questions are no longer,
so innocent, so childlike.
I wonder.
I wonder why my parents are always yelling,
I wonder why my dad can't stand up straight,
why my mom is always crying,
why my lips are cut and my eyes are black,
why there is that whisper that follows me,
and why I always keep leaving, yet I always come back.
I wonder, with my teenage curiosity,
I wonder, making up my own reasons,
I wonder, with wide eyes and questionable face,
I wonder.
But now, my questions are no longer,
so curious, so coming of age.
I wonder.
I wonder why my dad needs this drink,
I wonder why my mom won't get help,
why everyone knew, but no one spoke,
why I had to live in this nightmare,
and what I'm going to do now.
I wonder, with my grown up beliefs.
I wonder, with a knowing smile and wink,
I wonder.
And I still make up my own reasons.
back to topSimply Reborn
The price of immortality
Is greater than you think
Always confined
Never free
Never free to live
By dying
By becoming human
Watching your lover die
Over, and over again
A thousand soul mates
Never seeing the same one
Only the same one
Simply reborn.
back to topMy Rainbow
I thought it was supposed to look like this
My life as I know it
I saw only colors and shapes
Fuzzy borders and shadows
I saw only things, no details
I saw only shades no rainbows
One day, I found you
I found you
And what I was missing
I began to see clear!
I began to see detail!
I began to see rainbows!
I have been looking for rainbows
You were my rainbow
back to topThis Utopia
In this utopia
I make no decisions
I am no better than you
I am no more beautiful
I am no more smarter
I am no more wonderful
I am no more unique
I am just like you
I am no more independent
I am no more important
I will be no more remembered
I this utopia
I am exactly the same
as you
back to topI Want to Write
I want to sing.
I want to dance.
I want to paint.
I want to create a masterpiece.
I want to draw.
I want to write.
Oh, how I want to write.
I want to write,
my hopes,
my dreams,
my desires,
my fantasies,
my fears,
my secrets,
my joy,
my grief,
my sorrow,
my love.
I want to write.
Oh, how I want to write.
back to topI Am Human
What makes me human?
What makes me cry?
What makes me laugh?
Happy? Sad?
Loving? Independent?
Free?
What sets me free?
What in Heaven or on Earth can make set free from the life I lead?
What lets me touch the world, or lets the world touch me?
What lets me feel these things?
These emotions, instincts, desires, and passions?
What lets something affect me?
Make me cry, or laugh?
Make me happy, sad, loving, independent?
Free?
What sets me free?
My soul.
I am human, I have a soul.
I have a soul, I am human.
back to topWant
We feel the want
overpowering us.
The want of that
certain something.
The want,
of what we cannot have.
I want to touch
what I am not allowed.
I want to feel
what I am not allowed.
I want to experience
what I am not allowed.
I want to be
what I am not allowed
to be.
back to topPromise of Innocence
What is the color of yesterday,
What is the color of tomorrow?
What is the color of life,
What is the color of love?
What is the color of forever?
A thousand rainbows,
Mixed in a unique blend
Of spirit, of soul, of mind.
The body of man
With deep eyes, thick hair, smooth skin.
Heart beating with pride,
Muscles twitching with desire.
Forever is deep red,
For the blood shed for freedom.
Forever is sky blue,
Because the mind has no limit.
Forever is pure white,
For life is pressure and rare.
Forever is sunny yellow,
Because a smile can brighten a day.
A show of forever is written
In blood, smiles, tears, and dreams.
Forever is the ultimate promise,
Of innocence.
