Reading and Writing and 'Rithmatic. And Cake.

Warnings: Uh...none! ^^::

Sakura hummed quietly to herself as she took off her hat and hung it up.

"Ohayo, Sakura-chan!" a cheery voice called.

"Ohayo, Tomoyo-chan!" Sakura answered in kind.

The raven-haired girl smiled happily and began to unpack her books. "Did you get your summer story written? We're reading them today, you know!"

"Ho~eeee..." Sakura cast her gaze at the floor. "I tried to write it...but I got so caught up in stuff...demo...it's mostly done!" She smiled sheepishly. "Kero-chan finished it for me while I was doing my math work. Every time I let him do my math he gets it all wrong and I have to re-do it."

Tomoyo laughed and sat down just as Tsutsumi-sensei entered the room. "All right everyone, take your seats."

Sakura sat down and hummed quietly to herself, waving to Syaoran over her shoulder. "Ohayo!"

"Ohayo," he mumbled in response.

Tsutsumi-sensei stood at the front of the class and took roll call before returning to the subject of the summer break homework. "We'll start with your Creative Writing stories, which, as I said before school ended, we'll be reading in class. Kinomoto, why don't you start?"

Sakura gulped. Perhaps Tsutsumi-sensei really did have a "No-Homework-Done," alarm in him, just like Kero-chan had said. She cleared her throat and began speaking.

"Once upon a time there was a beautiful princess. The princess was in love with a sweet prince, but he lived in a kingdom far away. However, the prince would sometimes send the princess candy, and she would not feel lonely.

One day the princess decided to go and visit her prince. She and her ultra-cool kakkoi, uh..." Sakura blinked at the red pen markings scribbled on the page. They were covering up and changing some things. Kero-chan! Sakura loudly cleared her throat. "Gomen nasai. Ano...she and her guardian beast Kereberos traveled through a dangerous forest to her prince's kingdom. It was very far away. Demo, Kereberos was a strong and powerful ally, and though the princess was weak, he--" she broke off again, gaping at Kero's edits. She was going to kill him if he made a fool of her in front of the whole class!

Syaoran and Tomoyo were staring at her in shock. Sakura coughed again and grinned in apology. "Ah, gomen, gomen! Um, though the princess was...weak...the strong and powerful Ke-re-be-ros," she uttered the words syllable by syllable in an almost-growl, "protected her from harm."

The pencil marks stopped there, an indication of when in the story Sakura had abandoned it in favour of her math work. Sakura prayed to Kami-sama and Clow and whoever else might be out there that Kero-chan hadn't destroyed it from here on in. The marks of the red pen looked almost like blood on the paper. Sakura gulped.

"Kinomoto?" Tsutsumi-sensei questioned.

"H-Hai! It's all right!" She smiled and gritted her teeth. "The princess pined over her prince for a very long time, until her Guardian Beast became angry and abandoned her all alone...in the woods!" He's dead! "So, the princess decided that the prince wasn't worth it and went home too. When she got there Kereberos had eaten all the cake in the castle. Except for the extra stash he had hidden in the pantry. In the end the Prince got married to another Prince, which couldn't be helped. So, the Princess and her Guardian stayed in the castle for the rest of their lives, happy and eating cake. The end."

Sakura's cheeks burned bright red as she handed her paper to Tsutsumi-sensei and returned to her seat. It was all she could do not to just pass out on her desk. "Kero-chan...hidoi..."

After school Tsutsumi-sensei handed back all the papers corrected, stopping Sakura on the way out. "Kinomoto..."

"H-Hai?"

"I noticed you were having some trouble today reading your paper. I've never known you to be shy in my class, but it's all right. Worn out from your vacation, are you?"

Sakura nodded in assent.

"Well, I had to take off some marks because you had a lot of spelling mistakes near the end, but it was a very nice story. Not your typical fairy tale." Tsutsumi-sensei smiled at her. "Very creative. Here you go."

He handed her the paper, a red "95" circled at the top.

"A-Arigatou!" She bowed hurriedly and ran out to catch up with Tomoyo and Syaoran, who were discussing their own marks.

"What'd you get, Daidouji? I got an 80." Syaoran boasted.

"Ano...90." Tomoyo said quietly. Syaoran turned red and looked away. "Ah! Sakura-chan!" She turned to wave at her friend. "How did you do?"

Sakura grinned. "95. I didn't make too much of a fool of myself, did I?"

"Iie." Tomoyo smiled back.

"Well, I need to go. have to pick up something." Sakura waved and veered around a corner on her skates, bidding her two friends good-bye.

"Ja ne!"

"Ja!"

Sakura folded the paper into a neat square and placed it in her pocket before skating away.

"Kero-chan."

"Konnichiwa, Sakura!" Kero pounded on the controls of the video game her was playing. "How was school?"

"I passed in my creative writing assignment."

"Ah, really? That's good."

"Uh-huh."

There was a moment of silence before Kero's game sprite died and he turned around. "Nani?"

"I got a 95."
"Is that good?"

"Yeah."

"Oh."

"I brought you a present."

That made him sit up and take notice. "Oh? Dokodokodoko?!? Where?!"

Sakura smiled faintly and handed him a small bag. "I figured since we intend to eat cake for the rest of our lives, we'd get started now."

Kero dove into the bag and fished out a slice of strawberry cake. "Cakeyocakeyocakeyocakeyo!"

"Kero-chan?"

"Cakeyocakeyocakeyocakeyo! Nani?"

"Nice story."

"Thank you. "Cakeyocakeyocakeyocakeyo!"

"Kero-chan?"

"Hmm? Mmph, mmph, mmph, mmph..."

"You're never doing my homework again."
