Adirondack Mountain Club - North Jersey Chapter (ADK-NJ)
The club offers active support for conservation and a variety of outdoor activities and social events. Outings include hiking, canoeing, cross country skiing, and other outdoor activities. Social events include chapter picnics and dinners. Hikes range from short, easy walks to more difficult high peaks climbs in the Catskills and Adirondacks.
Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC)
This club offers the largest variety of outdoor hikes and day trips in the northeastern U.S. They maintain primitive cabins for backpackers in northeastern wilderness areas, ex., White Mountains. They administer the Mohican Outdoor Center at the Delaware Water Gap, and hold themed weekend activities there year-round. Membership is $40 annually, and members are automatically affiliated with the chapter nearest them (there is a New York-North Jersey chapter). Members receive a monthly publication AMC Outdoors, which lists monthly chapter activities (hikes, etc.), and members of the New York-North Jersey chapter receive a huge schedule full of activities three times a year.

Harriman Hikers - A Hiking Club for singles of all ages
A hiking club for singles of all ages which meets every Sunday at 11:30 am in the South Parking Lots, Field B-1, of the Ramapo College of New Jersey on Route 202 in Mahwah, NJ. Founded in 1974, the Harriman Hikers is one of the oldest singles groups in the state of New Jersey. Hikes are intermediate and although no equipment or experience is needed hikers should be in good physical shape and capable of hiking 7-8 miles in hilly and rocky country where some hills can be steep. On the average Sunday some 30 hikers join the hike; the ratio between men and women is usually 50:50 except that more men hike in inclement weather. Ages range from the 20s to retirement. Harriman Park Hiking - informal hikes with dogs in NY and NJ
This group is for those who enjoy hiking and walking in NY and NJ, in Harriman Park and wish to arrange informal hikes with others. All hikes are dog hikes. There is a regular Friday group hike, as well as lesser dog friendly hikes earlier in the week. Hikers in greater New York/New Jersey area are welcome. Locations include the Appalachian Trail, Sterling Forest, Hewitt, Ringwood, Ramapo and other neighboring parks within easy distance of Rockland, Westchester, NYC, NY state and NJ.

Hunterdon Walking and Social Club
The Hunterdon County, New Jersey Walking Club is a non-profit singles club for the 35+ age group. It has an informal atmosphere, no dues or organization which help to create a relaxed social environment for meeting and socializing.
The IHC is a medium-sized hiking club, organized in 1931, affiliated with the NY/NJ Trail Conference. IHC members are of various ages and diverse backgrounds. Most of our activities are centered in the NY/NJ area. Hikes generally are scheduled for every Sunday and some Saturdays as day-long outings. They are graded by difficulty of terrain, distance and pace.

This is an outstanding county park commission which offers a wide range of programs for many interests and levels of ability. The larger Morris County parks include Lewis Morris Park, Morristown, Mahlon Dickerson Reservation, Jefferson Township, and Pyramid Mountain, Boonton. Their quarterly publication, Pathways, has a complete schedule of events throughout the park system.

New York-New Jersey Trail Conference
The club's volunteers are responsible for maintaining thousands of miles of trails in New York and New Jersey, a prodigious effort!! They publish books and those wonderful `Tyvek' (waterproof, non-paper) trail maps that rival most others for accuracy. Members receive the bi-monthly Trail Walker newspaper, which has both trail news and hiking schedules for many different hiking clubs in New York and New Jersey. Membership costs $25.00 annually.

Part of the Sierra Club, a national environmental and outdoors organization since 1892. The national organization has day hikes in all states, and hiking, backpacking, camping, canoeing, kayaking and other outdoor trips worldwide. Steve Ember has been leading 6-8 mile hikes at an enjoyably brisk pace for about 15 years for the North Jersey Sierrans.

A non-profit organization dedicated to providing low cost opportunities for extending the individual's awareness, knowledge, appreciation, and enjoyment of the environment through experiences in outdoor activities. The hiking activity offers regular hikes of all lengths and for all abilities. Hikes of varying length and difficulty are on Saturday and Sunday, mostly in the Pine Barrens and at times on the Delaware or Delaware-Raritan Canals.
We feature hikes for the avid hiker along with hikes for the beginners. You can always find someone to take a walk with you, if that's your pleasure. Our current membership is over 160. We try to spread our activities out so that there are some that are close to home for all. Primarily we do things in Morris, Sussex and Warren Counties. We welcome new ideas and encourage all members to run an event of their choosing. Dinners, brunches, plays, trips to NYC, whale watching and many more outings await you. Upcoming Events
This club offers a schedule of 8-10 mile hikes in autumn and spring. The group usually meets at the Bernardsville Plaza in Bernardsville at 8:00 AM on Saturday. Children are permitted if accompanied by an adult. Smoking and pets are not permitted. There is no membership or hike fee. This club serves those actively interested in the great outdoors, provides outdoor recreation, and supports worth conservation efforts. Activities include hikes, bike trips, ski trips, weekends, and trips abroad. It is affiliated with the Union County Department of Parks and Recreation, Administration Building, Elizabeth NJ 07207 (908-527-4900) and the Trailside Nature and Science Center at Watchung Reservation (908-789-3670). Hikers are invited to join after their first outing. Membership is $5.00 annually.

Nature Conservancy - New Jersey Chapter
Part of an international environmental organization that seeks to preserve environmentally fragile lands, this organization offers occasional hikes, nature walks, canoe and kayak trips, as well as opportunities for nature-based volunteer work. There are four New Jersey offices, in the Highlands, the Pine Barrens, Cape May County and the main office in Chester. The international organization offers many exciting domestic and international trips.

This is a venerable birding organization that focuses on environmental
issues and offers many activities in addition to birding. They have eight
nature centers throughout New Jersey that are open to the public. They
are located from Ringwood in the north to Cape May in the south. Each
center has a unique schedule of outings, including strenuous hikes with
the `Weis Wyanokie Wanderers' (pre-registration required).

Pineland Preservation Alliance
This is an umbrella organization that keeps tabs on development activity and environmental preservation in the South Jersey Pinelands. They report on activities of the state-appointed Pinelands Commission that is charged with controlling development, and they offer a broad range of environmental educational programs. The bi-monthly newsletter includes a full schedule of outdoor activities including hiking, canoeing and kayaking.
