5. Write a brief report on
the basic details of your topic. This is a fact finding mission to
investigate
the historical context, major figures and main events surrounding
your topic.
Include
with your report a list of sources. Include the list
of jobs each
person is assigned in this report.
6. Create an essay question
requiring the skill of evaluation which deals with your topic.
EXAMPLE:
"The Great Society Program" addressed poverty in the most
appropriate
way for the 1960’s. Assess the validity of this statement.
7. Select 9 documents which
will reflect several possible positions related to your topic. The
above example
might have speeches by opposing and favoring Congressmen, cartoons,
first hand
comments by people who used these government services, charts
or graphs
on poverty or government expenditures, pictures of the programs
at work/not
working. Put the documents together in a booklet which could
be used
for writing a DBQ. The reading and interpreting time for this
collection
should not exceed 15 minutes. Include source information for each
document. Label
each document according to the issue/issues it may address
for the topic.

8. Develop a rubric for the
successful answering of this question. It should be a 9 point
criteria. Create
a list of at least 30 specific fact which could be provided as
"outside information".
