| Unfortunately for this year's convention the quality of the costumes (and I hate to say it), just wasn't up to par with any of the previous conventions. But really, it doesn't surprise me, because having taken the time to actually make a costume before, I know how much time and effort goes into it. To make a really quality costume, you have to be ready to invest a lot of energy. Because of this, I'd say it's pretty much hit or miss on what you're going to see in the costume contest each year. What I found to be interesting about all of this, is that most of the fans who had obviously not been to one of these conventions before, were still really excited by the entries in this contest. For example, the only costume I actually wanted to take pictures of was the one seen below, and although it wouldn't quite stand up to the winners from the past conventions, it was an overwhelming fan favorite as it went by. I guess it pleased the fans, and that's the main point, so you could say it was definately a winner in that regard. |
