SI Danseur de Rosette is a beautiful French Thoroughbred with amazing racing lineage. When showing in equitation, Danseur is a very nicely turned out horse, sporting a neatly braided mane that shows off his gorgeous neckline. He has very honest manners, both under saddle and on the ground, and this catches judge's eyes. A horse that performs well under pressure and has wonderful form and movement is what we look for in a hunter mount. His gaits are free and flowing; natural. His stride covers ground very efficiently with its low and sweeping movement - his foreward movement comes from impulsion, neither fast nor slow, and he is not at all heavy on the forehand, but light and low. Danseur is a very well schooled horse who obeys his rider's commands. He would definitely be the horse to ride when concerned about safety out on a fox hunt in the field. When he jumps, he keeps his knees high, almost appearing to touch his chin, and rounds his back. He is a very careful jumper, and doesn't like tipping rails.
Danseur's sire, Bering, earned 4,072,450 (equal to $784,121.67 US money) Francs in his racing career. From seven starts he won five times ("Prix du Jockey Club Lancia" a Fr-I race; "Prix Hocquart" a Fr-II race; "Prix Noailles" a Fr-II race; "Prix Niel" a Fr-III race), one place, and one show. Bering's sire, Arctic Tern, was sent back and forth from the US to France several times. He raced twenty times but only won four races, took place five times, and had show twice. Arctic Tern earned 1,147,280 (equal to $220,988.36 money) Francs, and won two GI ranked races and one GIII race. Bering's dam, Beaune, raced once as far as I know: a place finish in the poule d'essai des pouliches.
Coral Dance raced thirteen times, winning thrice. She also had one place and one show, earning $76,822. She had eleven offspring, ten of which were runners, seven winners, and four stakes winners (Pennekamp, Nasr El Arab, Black Minnaloushe, and Shaal). She died in the year 2002. Her sire, Green Dancer, raced eight times and had four wins, and placed twice. He won a GI rated race in England, the Observer Gold Cup, the GI race Poule D'essai Des Poulains in France, and the Prix Lupin, a GI race also in France, racking in $433,052. Carvinia, took first in the Prix de Satory L and Prix d'Orry, and third in the Prix de la Prairie - all in France. Diatome earned $90,000 and 1,643,013 (equal to $316,703.88 US money) Francs. Out of twelve starts he won six races, took place in five, and had show in one. Danseur's full brother, Pennekamp, was a Classic winner and a European Champion miler at age three. Pennekamp was a Group I winner. He raced seven times and won six races.
All in all, Danseur is a sweet gentle horse without a mean bone in his body. He is spirited, and his eyes shine with pride and happiness when entering the hunter ring or going out for a romp in his paddock to challenge the other stallions. This horse is enjoyable to be around because of his personable attitude.
