The Shiba Inu
ShyGuy Who Loves Yu Baby X Imprints Touch of Magic
This is the long awaited, ShyGuy's Makoto Sachi (which means pure happiness) a.k.a. "Keiko". She is a beautiful red, Shiba Inu, who is now 7 years old. I got her from Sunderland, Ontario. Her birthday is on October 22, 2000. She is CKC registered. I named her after a person I worked with. I loved the name so much that I asked her if I could give it to my next dog.
Keiko is a cute, mischievious little girl. She surprised us all with her funny personality. She is the first dog that I have met to use so much eye contact. If your sleeping and she wants to wake you up ...guess who is barking and staring at you.

Keiko loves to play...she learned how to retrieve instinctivly. When she gets too excited she has these wild moments and thrashes around the apartment barking and growling. Hehehe I got scared the first time she did that...I thought she was going to attack me.
Shibas are very catlike, they like to use their paws a lot. They are very smart little dogs. She was housetrained after the day I got her. She only had two accidents in the apartment (she was at the door but we didn't get there in time).
She slept a lot as a puppy, she even had nightmares. lol it was so cute, sometimes she would be running and whimpering in her sleep. I pet her to reassure her that she was just dreaming.
You can see her green tattoo here. It is used for her ID, incase she ever gets lost.
The reason I got a Shiba Inu was because it resembled a husky but in a smaller body...good enough for an apartment. They also look like little foxes. Almost everywhere I go with her I get at least three people asking if Keiko is a fox.
Dogs need to get their nails clipped about every week to keep them from touching the ground. Special dog nail clippers must be used. A human clipper may break or dement the nail. When you cut the nails make sure you don't cut the quick, which is the pink part. In black nails it is harder to see but if you look carefully, you will find it.
Shiba Inus are the smallest native dog from Japan. They were bred to hunt birds and small game. They are equiped to climb rough terrain and high mountains.
Keiko went through a teething stage, all puppies go through this, they will eventually grow out of it. It was very painful for me...lol this was also the time when I witnessed the famous Shiba tantrum along with the scream. She had quite the temper. It is amazing how much she has grown up. If you look closely at this picture you can see her missing front teeth. I have a collection of all her fallen teeth.
This is me and Keiko in puppy school. Shibas need to be socialized at a very early age. Keiko is still shy of people.
Leash training was difficult with Keiko. The first time I took her out for a walk she just sat down and didn't budge. It took me months to finally to get her to heel.
Me
Shibas make very odd sounds. I've heard Keiko bark (whuf), snort, whimper, howl, meow, talk, growl, bark loudly (whuf....roo, roo), bark playfully (ruf) and make lots of other undescribable noises. Her favorite games are tug of war, chase and fetching sticks/balls.
