| 19 October 2001 See, I was going to type out what this week's episode of FRIENDS was all about, but I know Julian is gonna get really mad. So, I'm gonna leave it up to you guys to watch it. All I'll say is that it's about a video tape:) I watched this show called "Bandits" over the weekend. It's a new movie starring Bruce Willis, Billy Bob Thornton (aka Mr Angelina Jolie), and Cate Blanchett. Anyway, this one line really struck me and it went something like "love is a wish you keep in your heart and only you know about it." I know many of you romantic skeptics out there are thinking that it's an absolute corny line and to some degree, I agree with you. I think I've outgrown that stage which comes with all the idealized notions of romance. No longer that soppy hopeless romantic like before. I guess I can't see myself going "awwwwww" when I hear lines like those anymore. Can you lose faith in romantic love? I think it's possible. What about you? Anyway, before I get all of you squirming from the mushiness, I better change the topic. Bandits is a pretty interesting show. Go catch it if u can. Serendipity on the other hand, hmmm. For those who haven't heard of that show, it stars Kate Beckinsale and i forgot the actor's name. Anyway, it's this improbably love story and i think it's very much a girly flick. Girls, this is a good movie to drag your boyfriends to. Guys with girlfriends, start thinking up some excuse now. Ren Yi was asking me to update the page. But what do you want me to do? Give me some suggestions please. And I need to reiterate once again that this page was created for you guys, so it's basically you guys who will keep this page alive. Post messages, ask how people are doing. etc. Noone really cares what I actually type here. I'm doing it because it's part of my 10 step recovery program from the sickness called "AJSHKADJKJSSNLC" I was supposed to go watch the taping of FRIENDS later today, but somehow, they cancelled the thing. Me thinks its related to these Anthrax incidents. Apparently, all the 3 major networks have been hit-NBC, ABC, CBS or something like that. America has been paralyzed by this. People are getting all freaked out about what's been happening and how dangerous it is to even open up mail. I'm sure you guys read about this letter from Malaysia that was sent to Microsoft that was believed to be contaminated with Anthrax. Apparently, the first test was positive, then it was negative, then it was positive. I'm not sure what the final reading was. Just that, small things such as these could easily have been happening for months before Sept 11. It's just that these things get so focused on now in view of the tragedy. Yes, there is of a course the need to be cautious. But terrorism seems to have gotten the better of America. Life needs to go on does it not? Ya know, our generation has been called the generation with no hope. Apparently, people have given up on us. Or at least that's what I'm hearing from here and there. Our parents, mainly from the baby boomer generation had it good because economy was booming and they seriously improved whatever condition they were in. However, they seem to think that us youths can only go downhill. I'm personally quite peeved that adults look down on us youths. I'm not suggestion that we rebel, I'm merely saying that we prove them wrong. We are a generation with such great potential and while not all of us might go on to impact the world, we can definitely make a difference in the lives of those around us. I'm not asking you to be a goody 2 shoes kinda person, but I'm hoping that you view life from a broader perspective. Before I go any further, I want to say that it's been a whole lotta fun doing this website. There's actually a lot more work involved than it looks. However, I've enjoyed it and despite the times I thought about abandoning it, I remember just how much fun I had back in SC and how important it is to not let relationships just wilt away. I really appreciated every second I spent in that school with every single one of you. I'm just upset that it took me so long to realize (ya know, with me being dense and all...) Have a good weekend. Aussie people, good luck for the final few weeks of your semester. You guys are gonna be having months of holidays in a few weeks time:) UK people, start of the new school year. Sigh. I know. Same experience here. Time to endure and enjoy school life all over again. US people, hmm...I don't know what to say to you guys. Hope to hear from some of you soon? Malaysian people, lucky you! Why? Cause you're back home where all the wonderful people and food are. Did I miss anyone else? If I did, I'm sorry and I'll try to correct it ASAP. Till then... |
