All programs on this page have been designed and tested on a TI-83 Plus and/or TI-84 Plus Silver Edition, and should function perfectly on any 83+/83+SE/84+/84+SE. Though I have tested them in an effort to detect and prevent any fatal errors, I make no guarantee that they will not crash your calculator, delete your RAM, eat the cursor, or suddenly start leaking mayonnaise from the link port.
I release these unto the public domain. Program and readme is included in each zip (BASIC programs are pretty much both source and executable...I think the 85/86's compile from source, but those are those and not this :-) If you want to access the source on-calc, you can unlock them in Mirage (for those that show up there) or with Program Manager 2 (or local backup copy...run from Mirage ;-). I think they're pretty much all locked, mostly so some n00b wouldn't open them up and screw it up or press [CLEAR] instead of [QUIT], or try to steal my code. If you're downloading them from here, though, that pretty much means you're patently more tech-savvy because you must have some link software. Have fun!
Next to each download link is the date of last update, in MM-DD-YY format.
Games
All-in-one app (05-11-08) or download individually below
Russian Roulette (05-11-08)
Self-explanatory, right? Wikipedia
Guess a Number (05-11-08)
The Maze I (05-11-08)
The original. Watch out for fake walls.
The Maze II (05-11-08)
The sequel. Twice as hard as the first (minimum moves 6 verses 3). I don't know of anyone who actually finished this one.
The Maze III ("Super Maze") (05-11-08)
Radical redesign, bigger map, easier navigation, randomized starting location. Teleporters! (a smaller version (05-11-08) is available for those with limited space on their calculators)
The Maze IV (05-11-08)
Navigate by the color of the monkey you're looking at! Endearing descriptions of many of the simians, and several interesting landmarks besides.
Tag (I and II) (05-11-08)
An X and a theta (looks kinda like a zero) try to tag each other. In I, whoever moves into the space first loses; in II, they take turns being It. Twitch-based.
Rock-Paper-Scissors (05-11-08)
You play against an AI player named Bob (if you can consider 3 random numbers "intelligence"). Look for the not-so-secret easter egg...
PassBreaker (05-11-08)
My illustration of how pointless it is to try to guess someone's Mirage password.
Catch (05-11-08)
You're a little guy holding a basket over your head (okay, it's actually an x-bar) trying to catch the falling balls.
Wander (05-11-08)
Like The Maze, but you're wandering in a matrix. Much more twitch-based and faster-paced...and more boring.
BPong 0.2 (01-13-09)
A BASIC version of Pong. It's one-player, but not terribly exciting. I did what I could with it.
Super Mario (or local unofficial beta 2.0 version (05-11-08)) levels Scuba World I and II (05-11-08)
Not in BASIC - made using the Super Mario Level Editor 2.0 ("MEDIT") by
Sam Heald.
Math programs
MathPack app (version 2? 1? I'm not sure anymore) (05-11-08)
bundle of all the individual programs (run from RAM) (05-11-08)
Included programs:
Quadratic formula
Lines - distance, midpoint, point-slope, etc.
Logar The Magnificent - does logarithms (not sure whether this one gives the wrong answer; not present in app)
Solids - calculates volume, surface area, lateral surface area, base area, etc. (not in bundle)
Prisms - similar as much as possible to Solids, for n-sided polygons (not in bundle)
Polygons - apothem, angles, area, etc. (not in bundle)
Radian/Degree converter (pi radians)
Arc/Sector calculator
Hero's Formula
Sin-Cos-Tan signs (+/-) for each quadrant (broken in app)
Unit circle (text-based, sorry)
Unit circle 2 (not in app)
Polar distance calculator
Integer division - for all those times you don't want a decimal answer (not in app)
Also, not my work, but The Trig Machine (or local backup copy (05-11-08)) is an absolutely priceless program to have whenever you need to solve a tough triangle. Be warned, though: Make sure you know how to do it yourself, because this program requires you to know nothing but the difference between sides and angles!
There is one problem with The Trig Machine: there's one specific case (I want to say SAS or ASA) that causes it to lock up so you have to pull a battery (and your RAM gets cleared), so make sure you have everything backed up before you use it. (05-11-08)
Finally, "the ACT program" (05-11-08) has also been very useful - for that case where the Trig Machine crashes, this one can find it.
These (05-11-08) are some BASIC shells that I wrote, too. Don't expect them to rival Mirage, but I think they're fairly slick.
Whew! This page took a really long time to write. I probably screwed up a link or two somewhere, so email me if you find something wrong.
