We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in Australia… unfortunately…gee I would love some turkey at the moment(making do with chicken for dinner tonight) but I hope you all in the US have a happy holiday today and whatever you are doing that you are spending time with loved ones and having a wonderful day.

Back on track today after lettling "life" get in the way of writing. I really admire authors who can still work with mayhem going on around them, that work full time, have families etc and still manage to write. I have the family but not the full time job and there never seem to be enough hours in a day…but I guess I need to learn to prioritize-huh? Or give up on things like….housework J nevcr did like that stuff anyway!!!
So back to the keyboard and try and ignore the fact that the front room looks like a laundry and that there’s probably a sticky floor from where my youngest has just poured her own orange juice so she doesn’t disturb mommy writing….I can go wash the floor after another five pages or I DH phones to say he is leaving work whichever comes first J
Oh the joys of being a writer J !!!!

Decided that it was time to take my writing more seriously instead of thinking of it as a hobby. Which means getting my act together and actually spending time writing instead of thinking about it.
JournalPart Two
Sunday 1st December 2002
Good Lord, Christmas is only 24 days away…
unbelievable how quickly the year has gone and I have very little to show for it…I haven’t had the discipline that is going to help me make it as a writer…but that has got to change so I am starting December with a new attitude…
I AM GOING TO MAKE A SUCCESS OF THIS WRITING CAREER…
finished writing a query and synopsis for latest wip…"Sage Advice" which I will get out in the post in the next couple of days and fingers crossed I will hear something good about it in the New Year…I see this as being much better than "Keeping Secrets" and "Fox’s Hunt" my previously rejected fulls….but when I have some spare time I am going to drag those m/s out of the dust beneath the bed, pull them apart and put them back together again because Iknow there is a lot of redeemable stuff in them but as first attempts go I shouldn’t complain at least they got a look in J
Journal Part ThreeFebruary 8th 2003
Well I knew I shouldn’t have written those New Year’s Resolutions because so far I haven’t kept up with any of them….I’ve really let life get in the way …not that that is a problem but if I was really organised I could have the life and do the writing too….really need to get my act together to get this right.
I have signed up for the RWA Conf in NY this year (wow I’m going to NY YIPPEE!!!!!!) so hope that helps me get direction again…but that is not until July so need to get myself sorted before then. Don’t want to completely waste the rest of the six months until then as I wasted Jan and the beginnings of this month.
I am going on a family holiday next week to Queensland and I am going to try not waste that time…going to take "Keeping Secrets" with me and a big red pen and work on it in the spare time I have(my eldest daughter has to take schoolwork with her so when she has scheduled homework time I will do some of my own), also a writing journal and whatever takes my fancy while I am away I am going to write and hope that it leads to some inspiration for another story or a story I am already working on…whatever….
February 28th 2003
Well the holiday was a blast….very hot but enjoyable and I was theme parked out but what can you expect when you take your four kids with you….gee if you want to relax you go on holidays alone J Anyway I didn’t do as much revision as I would have liked but it got me motivated to get stuck into it so I think I have done more since I have been home than I have been away.
While I was away I did get inspiration for another story (or two J ) and I have pencilled out a very rough outline and giving it a go, so working title is "Never Be The Same Again" so who knows maybe things will never be the same again after I have finished writing it J
