| MYTHS, FANTASY AND FAIRY TALES 1. We will analyse a fairy tale in class -original version and modern version. Discuss roles, plots, psychological and social interpretations. 2. Choose a character or animal that appears regularly in these kinds of stories (Example: dragon, wolf, gorgon, bear, princess, king, poor little girl etc.) and research 3 stories this character appears in. At least one source must be ancient Greek/Roman.Others can be from later European stories and modern writings/films) Include the stories in your file. 3. Determine the personality traits and physical characteristics of your creature/character in each story. Note any changes that occur. Find a picture of this character for each story. 4. What are the main roles played by this character/creature? (represents good, evil, innocense, the beast in man, ...etc.) Give examples from the texts. 5. Write your own fairy story where this character has an important role. |
