Continuing to wage war on her senses, his lips moved from her now willing mouth to trail kisses along her jaw, down her neck until they reached the soft hollow of her throat where her pulse beat strongly against his tongue as he licked at her salty skin.  Sunshine broke through the leafy canopy, reflecting the green foliage on Dureena's mesmerised face.  He cupped one generous breast, playing with the nipple until it hardened, pressing tightly against the straining silk robe.  Lips sucked gently at it, leaving a wet patch to cool against her rapidly warming flesh.  Dureena's hands had moved to grasp his shoulders as he trailed his caresses down her body; she gasped as he undid the tie and gently parted the robe.  "Galen, no more, please."  Fingers tightened into his shirt as her hoarsely whispered plea tugged at him.

With his hands resting lightly on her silken covered hips, he stopped his exploration and gazed tenderly into her panicked eyes.  Pushing back the tousled hair from her face, he let his finger caress round her ear, down her cheek until it rested on her jaw.  Tipping her chin up so that her gaze fixed on his the corner of his mouth tipped up in an affectionate smile.

"Dureena, don't worry.  I won't hurt you, I promise.  I know that you have never taken pleasure from any man but I want to show you how wonderful it can be.  I only want your pleasure, your happiness."

She was still frightened; her eyes pleaded with him to stop.

"I have certain advantages over other men, my love.  I can suppress my pain or my desire with equal success.  There is no need to fear.  Trust me."

She swayed toward him, the hypnotic cadence of his voice drawing her nearer.  She shivered as his hand slid inside the robe, making contact with her warm flesh for the first time.  Silk puddled at her feet as he slid the robe from her shoulders.  Expert fingers teased and stimulated, touched and caressed learning every sensitive place, every rhythm of her body.  His lips traced a sensual path down from her shoulders, across her breasts, taking each hard nub in turn until her heard her soft whimper.  Descending ever lower he dropped to his knees pressing his face to her flat stomach, his hands now caressing her hips, slowly edging around to her inner thighs.  Every touch slow and deliberate, no hurry, no urgency, he was determined to give her as much pleasure as her body could take.

He buried his face in the dark thatch that hid her from him, his tongue darting out in an intimate foray, pressing open the tight lips, tasting her salty skin.  He caught her as she fell toward him, following her down, laying beside her on the soft grass.  His lips pressed gently to hers, tasting her mouth as she lay panting beside him -- something other than fear burning in her eyes now, yet still he took his time; returning to his intimate exploration with lips and tongue.  Now when he reached his goal, she offered little resistance; her wet reception delighted his questing mouth.  He spread her soft skin with his tongue, refusing to give her any cause to fear his presence.  Pressing gently, he lapped her soft centre in rhythmic strokes, building pressure within her until she began to move against him, pressing closer and closer.  Hips rocking in time with his insistent forays.

"Galen," her hoarse voice barely heard above the sighing of the breeze in the trees above them.  Then she shuddered against him, he pressed with harder, swifter strokes and she came again, flooding his tongue with her sweet juices.

Cradling her in his arms he wrapped the robe around her slender form and held her close, murmuring a soft incantation, feeling her drift off to sleep.

* * *

Clad once again in his black leather trousers and dark shirt, Galen made final adjustments to his instruments.  Whilst Dureena had slept peacefully in his bed he had been downloading instructions from the Circle.  One final tweak and the new sensors were set.  Now, should his ship come within a certain distance of the sole surviving Sharian, automatic warnings would alert him, through his sensors, to its presence.

He slipped on his heavy black coat, feeling the sensors connect; checking that everything was well.  His staff felt warm and familiar in his hand, energy surged through him and he breathed deeply, letting it flow through him, enervating and alive.

Before him lay Isabelle's heavy tome.  From her notations, he had calculated the position to within a sector or two.  It would not be hard to find if he combined his sensors with those of the Excalibur; should Matthew trust him to repeat the procedure.  A wry smile tipped his lips upward, he was not sure Gideon forgave even now.  But, if the virus was to be stopped, they would have to put personal differences aside.

Concentration furrowed his brow as he checked the flyer over.  Introducing any new system could upset the delicate fine tuning he had performed over the years, and he did not hear her soft footfalls.

"Galen?"  Refreshed, bathed and looking stunningly beautiful to him, she entered the flyer with care as though not sure of her welcome.  He watched her gaze travel over his coat and back up to his face.  "We"re leaving."  Not a question, but a statement.

"The book you had last night, it contains what could be the answer to Earth's problems.  Come and look."  He held out a hand to her, taking hers when she seemed reluctant.  He steered her to the open pages, and read with her the relevant passages and clues.  Eager that she should see the significance of the find.

"Will you come with the Excalibur?" she asked quietly.

"Of course."  She flinched at his distracted tone, and her eyes gazed at his coat with all its hidden gadgetry again, as though it was a barrier between them.

"How will you find her?  The captain will have set another destination by now."

Chuckling, he replied, "I have a tracking device hidden in an out of the way corner of the ship.  I know it has been driving Matthew insane trying to discover how I keep track of him."  He laughed down at her and for the first time saw her hesitancy.

"What's wrong?" He crouched down beside the chair so that he no longer loomed over her.

"And when the cure is found, you will leave again."  Her eyes refused to meet his, but her hand was tightly clenched against the chairs metal arm.

He tipped her head toward him, sensing that even now, after all they had been through these last few days, she was unsure of him.

"And you will come with me."  Raising one eyebrow he quipped, "Well, I can hardly teach you how to become a technomage via a correspondence course!"

Leaning in he kissed her soft lips.  "Foolish woman," her breathed against her mouth.  Her arms released his chair from their deadly grip and slipped around his neck, caressing the short hairs that rested under her fingers.

"How foolish?"

"Very," he said softly, kissing her until his head swam.  Instructing the flyer to seek out the Excalibur, he turned all his attention to assuring Dureena of his honest, well almost, intentions.

the end

Authors note:  Yes, I know there is another story to write -- what happens when Galen finds Gideon has the last box!  Well I will get to that, I promise.  Just give me a little time. <g>
