'I'm sure most people who were reading this wondered why I chose Math for the name of the Ancient One (as anyone who writes fanfic will agree, it's highly unlikely that his father and siblings call him that).  In Welsh mythology, there's the legend of a sorceror who drew his power and vitality by resting his feet in the lap of a virgin.  Sound like anyone we know?  Uh-huh, thought so.  His name was Math.

Now, as of the episode "Rescue", the Ancient One has released Kyra from his mind-crystals, but the idea is the same.  The Ancient One drew on Kyra's youth and vitality to reverse the aging process.  Math was the perfect name (even without the jokes about calling him 'Calculus,' since he is so calculating).

Additional note:  Just to avoid confusion . . . Maya and Esmere were both originally created by Grace (the Debts of Love series).  As usual, this pair from the evil triplets swap characters.
