Author's Note:

This story started out as ruminations on the kind of guy Zad must be -- 'cause I was having a lot of trouble reconciling what was implied in the series with what was shown and what was logical -- and became a whoooole lot more.  Not to mention longer.  Since we all know Zad is not precisely a PG-14 character, by necessity neither is this story.  While some parts of it may be all right for the PG-14 crowd that the show attracts (especially given what else they typically see in the media these days),  it is not intended for that age group.  If you  are below 17 years of age and reading this, you have been warned, so tell your parents not to beat me up.  ;-)
