Two days have passed since the unfortunate incident between
Greg and his flirtatious fan. Jill hasn’t talked to Greg ever since their last
concert, but they both have experienced some type of delusional pain. Almost
everyone on their tour could notice that. It was a Saturday, the only day that
Granted Wish and Dream Street had off from rehearsing for their tour. Oddly,
both teenage pop groups had decided to stay in their hotel rooms for the day.
“Hey
Greg?” Matt questioned, “do you think you could go down to the hotel lobby and
pick me up some Fritos?”
Greg
rowdily grunted and stared at his fellow band mate. “You’re not doing anything.
Can’t you get them yourself?”
Matt
grinned and replied, “I can’t, I gotta take a shower.”
“Now?!”
Greg sighed while rolling his drowsy eyes.
He
picked himself off of the hotel room floor and grabbed his leather wallet.
Lazily, he slumped down the empty hall and towards the elevator. When the
elevator doors opened for him, he leisurely stepped into the elevator. Greg was
just about to press the “close door” button of the elevator, but he heard a screech
from the outside corridor.
“Don’t
close those doors! I need to get down to the lobby!!” shrieked a familiar voice
from the hallway.
Greg laughed a little to himself, and he patiently held the elevator doors open for the loud intruder. When the shrieking stranger finally approached the elevator door, Greg came to a shock. It was quite unbearable when he noticed that the loud intruder was non-other than Jill herself from Granted Wish. Jill silently stepped into the elevator, her eyes locked on Greg’s. For a split second, the two dependently stared at each other. Jill then looked away immediately, her back towards Greg.
“Soo…” Greg managed to say.
“Uh-huh,”
Jill replied rather flatly in an unimpressed tone. She crossed her arms and
ignored Greg for the rest of the ride down.
When
the elevator ride was over, Jill hurriedly jumped out of Greg’s reach. Greg
gulped a large wad of spit down his sweaty throat and suddenly ran after her.
“Jill!
Jill!” Greg yelled towards Jill’s direction, “Jill! Wait up!”
Jill
stopped for a millisecond and turned around to face Greg. The look on her face
was disgusted and filled with complete hatred. “What?” Jill retorted back at
Greg.
Greg
finally caught up to where Jill stood and took a moment to catch his breath. He
grabbed onto his chest for a while before saying anything. Finally, found the
strength to stand up in front of Jill.
“Are
you going to talk or what? ‘Cause if you have nothing to say, excuse me but I
have to go pick up some Fritos for McKenzie,” Jill said impatiently. Jill
turned around again; ready to leave the sight of Greg.
“No
wait! Wait – what?” Greg asked rather confusingly. “McKenzie told you to buy
her some Fritos? Is that why you’re down here – in the lobby?”
“You’re
a quick little shit, aren’t you?” Jill glared at Greg, not noticing the wicked
smile on his face.
“Oh
no … stupid, stupid, stupid,” Greg murmured to himself. It was then that Greg
realized that McKenzie and Matt had set him and Jill up. Neither McKenzie nor
Matt wanted Fritos at all! His two friends were trying to get Jill and Greg alone
together to talk things out. Greg smacked himself in the forehead a couple of
times before realizing that Jill was staring at him in amazement. “Mind me,”
Greg whimpered weakly.
Jill
widened her eyes and turned back around to leave again. She didn’t want to be
seen with a crazy idiot who kept on smacking himself in the middle of a hotel
lobby.
“No,
no, no! Come back! Please,” Greg pleaded behind Jill, “please listen to me!”
At
this point Jill had already started off towards the snack shop, with Greg
whimpering behind her like a helpless stray puppy.
“Jill,
I know you don’t want to speak to me or look at me or be with me or even listen
to what I’m saying right now. I know that I was an idiot and a fool for doing
what I did at that concert the other day. I didn’t even know what I was doing
then. I didn’t even like that fan who I chose to sing to. It should have been
you who was up there with me. And I know that you hate my guts, but I – I – I don’t
know what I’d do if you never forgave me, Jill,” Greg sighed while facing the
ground. He hadn’t noticed that at that very moment, Jill stopped herself from
walking on into the snack shop. He hadn’t noticed that Jill turned herself
around very slowly and attentively. Because Greg was unaware of this, he kept
on blabbering on, “Dammit I’m a huge screw up, and – and I don’t know what made
me do what I did the other day. I was stupid and I’m sorry for hurting you. I’m
sorry-”
“-But
I don’t,” Jill suddenly interrupted Greg. She spoke softly with an unsure tone
in her voice. Greg looked up at Jill, and for the first time he noticed the
tears swelled up in her eyes.
“You
don’t what?” Greg asked, confused.
“I
don’t hate you, Greg,” Jill forced the words out of her system.
“But
I thought-“
“-Thought
what?” Jill commented while sniffing her tears up. “Greg, I never did hate you.
I don’t think I ever could.”
“Then
why did you ignore me for the past two days?” Greg questioned with more hope.
“Because
you ignored me first … at our last concert,” Jill lowered her voice so that
only Greg could hear what she had said. Jill looked back to the ground and
started fussing around with her feet nervously. “I guess I was just-”
But
Greg never did find out what Jill “guessed she was”, because at that moment,
Greg had pressed his lips against Jill’s. His soft pink lips tenderly caressed
Jill’s. Greg didn’t have to say his apologies anymore because that one kiss
erased the entire history of what happened at their last concert. That kiss
made up for everything said and done. It meant so much, but lasted only so much
longer because of a short interruption by their friends.
“Bravo!!”
cheers were being yelled from a nearby bench in the hotel lobby. Eight nosey
faces were rooting and hooting for Jill and Greg. The eight nosey faces
belonged to the rest of Granted Wish and Dream Street.
“Woohoo!!”
McKenzie yelped while throwing Frito chips at the couple.
“Can
I get a whoop whoop?” Chris laughed horrendously at the two.
Jill
and Greg opened their eyes and stared long into each other’s eyes. They giggled
at an overwhelming rate. They had some wild friends!
