Chapter 4~
Surprise!
Charity awoke the next day to see the blur of an outline of someones body. She could see the person rummaging around her room. She shifted her weight over to the other side of her bed and took a glance at her alarm clock. It was only 7:00 AM! Looks like the princess finally awoke, a familiar voice said, And wait, Miss Teeting I have something special for you. Charity rubbed her eyes, unsure of who it was. She realized it was the same boy who was down in the blue yesterday. Charity grinned at how cheery Chris was today. Chris was holding a tray of bacon and scrambled eggs. Charity had to admit if Chris made this breakfast, he did an all right jobfor a boy. She sat up in bed, covering herself with her covers and glared at Chris. He smiled back at the sight of her. On the tray, there was a single rose with three pedals in a little vase. Charity couldnt believe it! Her chances with Chris just got a little bit better. There was also orange juice on her tray. The most corny, yet cute part about the breakfast was how Chris arranged her bacon and eggs into a happy face. On a personal note, this is a thank you for your advice from yesterday. Bon a petite! Chris explained. Mmmm! Charity licked her lips, Now I know you didnt make this. If I said I did, would you be surprised? Chris questioned craftily. You bet, Charity replied. Then I made it! Hahahaha, Chris! Awwww! This is sosweet, Charity admitted. Not as sweet as you, Chris beamed. Whoa! Charity thought to herself. This was something Charity didnt expect. What was she to do? She turned bright red. Her arms grasped around Chriss body as she tightly hugged him. Then, of course, Charity gobbled down her breakfast in bed. Hurry up! This day is going to be B-I-G! Chris cried out. Charity wondered what Chris meant by B-I-G, but on her side, she liked surprises. This breakfast in bed was big enough of a surprise. What could be next? Whatever this surprise would be, nothing, absolutely nothing could have prepared her for it. Chris pulled Charity down the stairs after she brushed her teeth and slipped on her best clothes. Charity still had her single rose in her palm. He rushed down the driveway over to his brothers car, and pushed Charity in. Jerry, who was driving in the front, acted like a cab driver as he asked where they were off to. Chris whispered their destination into Jerrys ear, so Charity couldnt hear. Chris, Ive had enough of a surprise. Please tell me where we are going! Charity urged. Someone is being impatient here, Chris smiled wickedly, Youll see my princess. Charity liked the idea of how sweet Chris was and how romantic he was. He even called her a princess! Halfway through the ride, Chris pulled his black handkerchief out of his pocket. Oh no you dont! Charity warned Chris, for all I know, you could wrap that thing around my eyes and take me to a cage full of bats without me knowing! Chris grinned at Charitys defensiveness, and wrapped his handkerchief around her eyes. This is supposed to be a surprise. If you dont cover your eyes, youll ruin the surprise. I am trusting a boy from a boy band who I just met a couple days ago, Charity sighed sarcastically, Lord forgive me, for I have sinned. When Jerry finally reached their destination after a long, bumpy ride, he opened the door for Chris and Charity. Chris took Charitys hand and held it tight as he led her out the door. She tried to squint through his black handkerchief, but she couldnt see anything. She heard loud voices of screaming girls. Then Chris took her into a quiet room. He carefully removed the blindfold. She couldnt believe her eyes. Charity and Chris were in a darkened room. The lights were dim and no one else was in the room. But in the center of the room there was a tiny table. On top of the table there was a VIP pass to one of Dream Streets concerts and a CD player. Also, there were 11 roses. Charity had a confused look on her face as she pointed to the 11 roses. (Usually, there are a dozen roses.) We came over here to bring that one rose to complete the dozen, Chris removed Charitys confused look. Instead, it was placed with a smile. Chris took the rose out of Charitys little hands and placed it into the vase with the rest of the roses. He pressed the play button on the CD player. Charity could here Justin Timberlakes sweet voice on the CD player. NSYNCs song God Must Have Spent a Little More Time on You, was playing. Justin Timberlakes voice wasnt the only sweet voice she heard. Just then, Chris bent down on one knee and took Charitys hand. His lips gently kissed it and said in a loyal voice, Princess Charity Teeting, may I have this dance? Charity immediately blushed, but was lucky since the room was dark and Chris couldnt see. She was amazed at how special she must be. A million girls must have been outside, screaming to see Chris, while deep down inside, Chris was screaming for her. It is my honor, Charity replied in a Paris accent. Both of them giggled. Chris stood up staring Charity deeply in the eyes, and took her arms. He placed both of Charitys arms upon his shoulders. Then, Chris took his own arms and placed them around Charitys waist. Charity thought that she definitely had to be the luckiest girl on Earth. Melanie would hate her! Every four minutes, the CD player played a new passionate song. Chris and Charity danced in the dim light for at least an hour, but Charity hardly noticed. She didnt want to let go of Chris. The CD stopped playing, but Chris and Charity continued to dance along the marble floor. When they did finally stop, Chris realized it was already noon. He had to run to the backstage area, where the rest of the Dream Street boys would be waiting. Since his concert was in the mall and he was already in the mall, it wouldnt be long before he got backstage. Charity showed respect for all the surprises Chris did for her by kissing him lightly on the cheek. After that, he had to dash towards the backstage room. Meanwhile, Charity would walk to the concert in the mall, with her VIP pass and a dozen roses. She glided to the stage, in her own world. She wondered if her dance with Chris really did happen. It was just too good to be true. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
