Ah, one of my absolute favorite things. :) Good books!! I'll put down some of my favorites here, but please feel free to email me your suggestions!!! Happy reading! (If you are unable to buy the books, don't forget to check your local library!)
NEW! * If you consider yourself a fat activist at ALL, you MUST read "The Obesity Myth" by Paul Campos. Seriously.
NEW! * "Big Fat Lies" by Glen Gaesser is a must-read for the science behind weight and health.
* "Nothing to Lose: A Guide to Sane Living in A Larger Body" by Cheri K. Erdman is a fantastic book that really opens your eyes to a lot of affirming facts and figures not often found in popular media.
* "Bountiful Women: Large Women's Secrets for Living the Life They Desire" by Bonnie Bernell and Carmen Renee Berry was a wonderful book full of empathy and empowering feelings. another must-read, if I do say so myself. =)
* "Thin Is Just a Four Letter Word" by Nike's Fitness Innovation Award-winner Dee Hakala is not something I wholeheartedly recommend, since there are definite negative attitudes and still too much concentration on food. However, it's still an amazingly inspiring story of a fat chick who found self-esteem and started her own fitness trend along the way! Dee is truly amazing. Feel free to check it out - I'm no just longer vehemently recommending it.
* Anything by Shelley Bovey. "Being Fat Is Not A Sin" changed my life, and inspired me to create, "She's All Fat!". There is also, "The Forbidden Body: Being Fat Is Not A Sin", and her newest work which should be out soon, "What Have You Got to Lose?"
Also, edited by Shelley Bovey: "Sizeable Reflections"
* "Self - Esteem Comes In All Sizes" by Carol A Johnson
