Rudy's Rules

Rudy Ruettiger is a personal hero of mine. . .he was a kid who dreamed of playing football a Notre Dame University. And, despite the huge obstacles and naysayers in his path, he did it. =)  If you've ever seen the movie "Rudy", you know his story. (And if you haven't seen it - what are you waiting for?? Go out and rent it! =))

I had the extreme privilege and joy of meeting Rudy.  I was so inspired and moved by his story - he even spoke of a young man who had written him saying his story had helped him overcome thoughts of suicide.  Which is just. . .absolutely amazing.

I got to talk to Rudy for a little bit, and I had to blurt out the dream I've cherished for about 16 years now - to be an actress.  And Rudy smiled at me, and said, "You can do it. Just never quit."

He signed an envelope for me; a promotional envelope with "Rudy's Rules" on it.  It's to me, signed "Rudy Ruettiger", and in black double underlined letters: "Never Quit."  It's in front of me right now, always in my vision when I am in my room, staring at me from the middle of my wall - so I don't forget.

Anyway, since I find them inspiring, I'm writing out "Rudy's Rules" for you all.  And if anyone uses them to achieve a dream, I've done good work this day. =)  So, now, without further ado. . .

"NEVER GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS"

Rudy's Rules:

* Everyone can be anyone they want to be.

* Make anger work for you.

* Everyone should dream.

* Eliminate the confusion.

* It is better to do something and fail than to do nothing and succeed.

* Get the dollar signs out of your eyes.

* Quit making excuses.

* Dreams don't have time limits, but timing is everything.

* NEVER QUIT!!

* When you achieve one dream, dream another.
