Also, you can help out by sending any plus-sized clothes to those who need them:

"I spoke with a woman named Rosetta at Community Action in Alabama today. They are assisting hundreds of people displaced by Hurricane Katrina. One of the things that is in very short supply is clothing for larger sized people. If you can spare any clothing above a size 16 for women, or above an XL for men, I would encourage you to send it to the address at the bottom of the email.

Rosetta has expressed that they also have a shortage of toiletry items (toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, tampons and sanitary napkins). They can also use diapers in all sizes.

Please circulate this request widely.

The address to ship to is:
Community Action (Phone # 251-626-2646)
26440 North Pollard Rd.
Daphne, Alabama 36526"

The caretaker of Big Julies Rescue ranch, Roger Brinker, is ailing and needs a replacement to take care of the Ranch. This place is a beacon of light in a dark world - where factory farm animals are rescued from their hellish lives and cruel slaughterhouse deaths and get to live a life in freedom, dignity, and love. If you can do anything - help out yourself, send money, or simply post this information anywhere you can - I would be eternally grateful. *mwah* Here's the info:

From contributor Jan Anderson:

"Self-acceptance is an issue that I feel very strongly about, so much so in fact that I've initiated a campaign here in the UK called FEED (Fighting against the Encouragement of Eating Disorders).  The aim of the campaign is to promote self-acceptance and to encourage the media to adopt a more responsible attitude by representing all body types.  At the moment, they are still propagating the idea that only one shape is desirable - emaciated.  My daughter has an eating disorder and she is very much guided by the images in magazines and on the TV, so this is a subject that is very close to my heart."

You can send ideas, encouragement, and questions to Jan at [email protected]
