What a great day!  I couldn’t have asked for a better one!

I went with Gary to Collingwood to see the store at which he works and meet his manager.  I then had just about six hours to amuse myself.  I decided against grocery shopping since the day was warm and the perishables would, well, perish.  I did go to Zellers and Canadian Tire.  I finally got my two-wheel shopping cart!  Yay!  No more sore fingers and broken bag handles.  I also got Gary a watch to use temporarily; the battery on his really good one that he always wears was running very low.  I did a bit of driving around the county, ending up on my sister and brother-in-law’s doorstep (twice – they were not home) and at a Caribbean take-out restaurant, where I picked up a curried goat roti, pineapple soda and one of those Jamaican sweet dessert cookies that are all coconut and molasses.  They were a hit with Gary!  I spoke to the restaurant owners at length and learned there is a Caribbean Jerk Festival at their location in two weeks.  We’ll be there after Gary finishes work; he’s very excited about it!  So am I; I’ll be able to eat some oxtail and plantain (in moderation, of course!).

I love this part of the province!  I know now that I will not live in the Golden Horseshoe and Greater Toronto areas again!  There is something so relaxing about being in these environs.  Even though Gary had to work at the store yesterday and today, we both felt we had a real weekend together.

When Gary was done work, we visited some of the people he got to know in the last four-plus months.  Such nice folks!  We then headed back home and stopped at the expensive grocery store to get some more not-so-expensive berries (3 little boxes for $5.00).  They will be great juiced with apples for the next couple of days.

Gary will join me in my last three days of juice fasting.  He wants to get rid of his bloating and feel more energetic, not to mention lose some of the bulk.  I’ll keep you posted on how he does.

Day 58

Weight loss: None

Purified water with lime consumed:  10 cups

Juices:

·         Carrot, apple

·         Apple, raspberry

·         Carrot, parsnip, celery, Swiss chard, endive, broccoli, cucumber, romaine lettuce, parsley, hot Jamaican pepper, 2 garlic cloves

Exercise: Three 20-minute walks

Other: 4T flax oil; 1T coconut oil; warm-water enema

A good day, though I can barely keep my eyes open.  Weird.  I caught myself almost dozing on the phone at work.  Maybe if I had turned off the heater under my desk…

The apple-raspberry juice was exceptional today!  I always get excited about a new juice.  I hope Gary was just as pumped about it.

Today Gary started his three-day juice fast/cleanse.  I can’t wait to see how he managed, considering that he has a meeting after work with his manager and the other consultants; he has been dreading it all weekend.

Gary is hilarious!  He did very well until I decided to get ready for bed.  I called to him not too long afterwards, wondering if he was coming upstairs.  He called back in a muffled voice, “I’m coming up!”  I knew instantly he was eating something.  I went downstairs and found salt on the counter.  I asked him what he had salted; after a bit he confessed he had some spoonfuls of peanut butter.  Later, he was in the kitchen getting some spoonfuls of jam.  I just started laughing; he is a hard-core late-night snacker.  He knows he has to break that habit.

My intention was to do a coffee enema; I’m a bit overdue for that.  Juicing for two people takes up quite a bit more time, though.  If it were just me, I would have forgone the juicing and would buy them tomorrow.  However, there are no juice bars that I’m aware of that are close by his workplace.  So I did my regular enema, went to the expensive grocery store and bought more carrots, among other veggies.  Hopefully tomorrow I can do the coffee enema and we can do some real grocery shopping at the reasonably-priced store on the west end.

Day 59

Weight loss: None

Purified water with lime consumed:  6 cups

Juices:

·         Carrot, sweet potato

·         Apple, blueberry, blackberry

·         Carrot, parsnip, celery, endive, romaine lettuce, parsley, hot Jamaican pepper, 3 garlic cloves

Exercise: 20-minute walk

Other: Probiotics, B&P shake; 4T flax oil; 1T coconut oil; warm-water enema

Another day without proper sleep.  And I was doing so well, too!  Gary didn’t fare much better, either.

Speaking of Gary, I discovered this morning that along with the spoonfuls of self-salted peanut butter and strawberry jam, he had had some crackers.  That man o’ mine!

What can I do to ensure I’m getting to bed at a decent time?  I can do the enemas right when I get home like I did before; that seemed to work well.  That’s a start, anyway.  I also know that I have to make up the juices for the next day and do that before making the veggie juice I will consume right away.  Let’s see what happens with that plan.  I will also have to hook up the VCR so I can tape Top Chef tonight.  If I don’t get around to doing that, I can watch it on Saturday after Hell’s Kitchen.  During the week, the TV can be my worst enemy.

I can’t believe I have one more day of juicing!  As good as this experience is for my health and well-being it will be nice to bite into some food again!  A big honkin’ salad and a nice royal gala apple will work for me on Thursday!  Avocados and bananas, too!  Woo hoo!  Bring it on!

I just bought a bottle of probiotics, which will re-populate my intestinal tract with good bacteria, or flora.  This flora prevents the body from bad bacteria, which create issues like excess Candida or yeast (yeast infections) and gastrointestinal problems.  Good flora improves one’s respiratory system and reduces allergies.  Hmmm…  I should have started to take this sooner.  However, better late than never.  I actually forgot about this important step.  Without this, the bad bacteria will start to take over once again.

Gary got the bookcases in the living room and started to unpack the books and trinkets that will go on them, while I prepared our juices for today and tomorrow.  He confessed to having a sandwich while at work today and yesterday, he was so hungry.  He also had some crackers while I was upstairs.  I just had to laugh; what else can I do?  I’m so glad he is supportive of what I have been doing and was willing to try it.  He did enjoy tonight’s veggie juice (without the garlic and hot pepper) much better than yesterday’s mix, though.

I did my enema just before an early bedtime.  There’s hope for me yet!
