Diary of a Dieter:

Sheryll’s Juice Fasting Journey

Week 5

Day 29

Weight loss: none

Purified water with lemon consumed: 10 cups

Juices:

·         Carrot, apple, ginger

·         Apple, pear, grape

·         Carrot, parsnip, beet, parsley, 2 garlic cloves

Exercise: 10 minutes on rebounder

Other: B&P shake; coffee enema; warm-water enema

I was craving French fries this afternoon.  It didn’t help that I watched the history of the French fry on the food channel.  All kinds were featured:  the world-famous crinkle fries in New York City; the major festival that celebrates potatoes in North Carolina and people eat fries all day for free; McDonald’s fries; gourmet fries.  The list goes on and on, as did the program.  Why I didn’t change the channel, I’ll never know.  In general, when the TV is on, I seem to want to eat more and I get less done around the house.  Time to listen to some old-time radio!

I felt a bit nauseous around “dinnertime”.  After having the coffee enema, I felt much better.  I still have to do the warm-water one.

While I was on the rebounder I watched part of a program I had previously taped.  On the show, four super-morbidly obese people were interviewed about their addiction to food.  I know what these people are going through; I’ve been there before on a few occasions.  I particularly understand the British woman’s despair.  She doesn’t know how to stop eating the large quantities of food she has been consuming.  I would like to help these people and others like them.  I’m not sure how; perhaps my story will make its way to them.  It would be my way of reaching out to them and letting them know I am there for them.

Maybe I’ll get to bed early tonight.  It would be a nice change from the 2:30am bedtime I’ve had for the past few nights.

Why do I insist on staying up late?  What do I think I’ll miss by going to bed?

Day 30

Weight GAIN: 1 pound

Purified water with lemon consumed: 12 cups

Juices:

·         Carrot, apple, ginger

·         Carrot and sweet potato

·         Strawberry and apple

·         Carrot, parsnip, cucumber, green pepper, broccoli, lettuce, beet, Jamaican hot pepper, 2 garlic cloves

Exercise: 20-minute walk; 30-minute walk

Other: Warm-water enema

I think I gained the one pound because I only had 3.5 hours’ sleep (barely).  So much for going to bed early last night; it was 2am before it was lights out.  Tonight I’ll be in bed right after I finish with this entry (It’s 11:05pm).  I’ll hopefully get up at 5am so I have time to make my juices.  If not, I’ll just have to buy them.

The nauseous feeling returned with a vengeance this morning.  I know my body is now in deep-cleansing mode.  All the little parasites that called my intestinal tract home have nothing to live on and are dying, releasing their nasty waste.  Lovely.  I thought having some ginger with my carrot-and-apple juice would have helped.  The garlic (and a quarter of a Jamaican hot pepper) in my evening veggie juice actually did the trick.  I think I’ll resume taking the oil of oregano in the mornings before I leave for work; it kills off those critters as well.

30 days down; 30 to go.

Day 31

Weight loss: 1 pound

Purified water with lemon consumed: 10 cups

Juices:

·         Apple

·         Carrot, apple, ginger

Exercise: None

Other: Warm-water enema

I’m going out of my mind.  You have no idea how much I want to eat something!  I don’t know if I can do any more of this juice fasting.  This is nuts!  I really could go for some sushi.  Even if I gave in now, I couldn’t have it because my body has been 30 days without any solid foods.  ARRRRRGH!  My friend at work said that I can do a cleanse without juice fasting.  NOW he tells me!  I believe, though, that I had to do this because there were so many toxins in my system.  However, I should have waited for a while longer to start this cleanse since I ended the last one on 23 December and started this one on 11 March.

No wonder I’m going crazy!

Going through the food court at the mall two blocks away during lunch hour didn’t help, either.  All those smells: McDonald’s; Bento Box; Wrapworks.  Solid food would be very nice about now!

I must do more research on juice fasting and what to do when I’m about to break down.

Day 32

Weight loss: 3 pounds

Purified water with lemon consumed: 10 cups

Juices:

·         Spinach and apple

·         Carrot, parsnip, beet, alfalfa sprouts

·         Carrot, parsnip, celery, cucumber, broccoli, green pepper, Jamaican hot pepper, 2 garlic cloves

Exercise: 30-minute walk

Other: Warm-water enema

Three pounds gone!  Woo hoo!  Three pounds away from breaking free of the 200s.  And I can officially put my last link on my Italian charm bracelet.  Each link, except the three that represent my initials, represents a five-pound weight loss.  So a grand total of 85 pounds have been lost since I started my weight loss efforts early last year, and 35 since I started this round of juice fasting.

Feeling good?  You bet!

I was disappointed in the root vegetable and alfalfa sprout juice, though.  The sprouts completely overpowered the taste of the parsnips.  Better for me to use parsley, like last time.

As for yesterday?  All those urges passed.  I didn’t want to juice anything when I came home because I was a bit depressed, so I went to bed, though it wasn’t an early bedtime.

Day 33

Weight loss: 1 pound

Purified water with lemon consumed: 10 cups

Juices:

·         Apple

·         Carrot and sweet potato

·         Carrot, parsnip, celery, lettuce, green pepper, spinach, Jamaican hot pepper, 2 garlic cloves

Exercise: None

Other: B&P shake; warm-water enema

The up-and-down of my moods is annoying.  I believe the deep cleansing is still going on.  I was feverish this morning and once again got nauseous.  I’m also overwhelmed with the things I still have to do.  I wish Gary was here to help out but we can’t help the circumstances of his working up north.  We’ll be together soon enough.  In the meantime, I thought I would have been father along with the packing.  By this time, with two and a half weeks to go before the move, the kitchen should have been done.  I haven’t even started it.  The worst of it is that I don’t have the energy to do anything.  I did perk up a bit in the afternoon.

Day 34

Weight loss: None

Purified water with lemon consumed: 10 cups

Juices:

·         Apple

·         Carrot, parsnip, beet, green pepper, spinach, 2 garlic cloves

Exercise: None

Other: Warm-water enema

The fever is gone, but my mood is still low.  I went to the doctor to get things checked out.  Apparently, I’m depressed and exhausted (no kidding!).  The doctor sent me for some blood work; I know nothing will show up.  I’m just not getting enough sleep and if I’m not careful, I will collapse.  It’s funny how I keep telling myself that I must take better care and yet I sabotage myself by laying down on the couch and covering myself with a blanket; within seconds I’m asleep and I know better than to do that!  I’m just glad that Gary was here to help me get through everything.  Things will be different in our new home.

Day 35

Weight loss: 1 pound

Purified water with lemon consumed: 10 cups

Juices:

·         Carrot, apple

·         Watermelon

·         Apple, spinach

Exercise: None

Other: Warm-water enema

It was nice to get out for awhile.  The sun was shining for the first time in what seems like ages!  What a difference the weather can make!  I picked up my usual groceries, along with some healthier snack choices for Gary.  I also managed to do a bit more packing.  A good night’s sleep helps, as well.

I really like watching the food channel.  There are some really fascinating recipes that are not too complicated or time consuming for me to try once I am able to eat again.  It will take some time before I can have solid food; I have to ease my way back into a full range of healthy food choices.

Man, I can’t wait until 17 May; I will definitely have my sushi pizza that day!
