Diary of a Dieter:

Sheryll’s Juice Fasting Journey

Week 2

Day 8

Weight loss: 2 pounds

Purified water with lemon consumed: 12 cups

Juices:

·         Carrot, beet and apple

·         Apple, pear and grape

·         Cabbage, broccoli, cucumber, green pepper, spinach

·         Carrot, romaine lettuce, parsnip, broccoli sprouts, orange pepper, Swiss chard, celery, 2 garlic cloves

Exercise: 45 minutes on recumbent bike

Other: Warm-water enema

What a productive day!  I managed to clean out my locker downstairs (I’m preparing for a move in another six weeks) and do laundry.  This was done after my 1.5-hour nap.  It’s so important for me to rest as much as possible so my body can repair itself.

Doing the water enema is amazing!  I thought there was nothing left to come out, but boy was I wrong!  By the end of this, between the garlic, the water and coffee enemas, my colon will be as clean as a colon can be.

I keep forgetting that beets turn urine and the other stuff red.  For a second I thought there was internal bleeding.

Tomorrow I have to find some more Mason jars.  I want to be prepared for Friday since I will be working until about 8:30 at night.  I’ll keep you posted on what I find.

Day 9

Weight loss: 1 pound

Purified water with lemon consumed: 10 cups

Juices:

·         Carrot and apple

·         Apple, pear and cranberry

·         Cabbage, broccoli, cucumber, red pepper, spinach, Spanish onion

·         Carrot, romaine lettuce, parsnip, yellow pepper, Swiss chard, celery, 2 garlic cloves

Exercise: 20-minute walk

Other: Warm-water enema

The breath was seemingly bad today!  At mid-afternoon my mouth tasted so stale.  Ick!  I’m surprised the students I met with didn’t run out of the office screaming!  I asked my director for some mints; I sucked on two for about five seconds then spat them out.  It helped a wee bit.  My system must have been doing a deeper cleanse.

I found my Mason jars!  Canadian Tire had them ($8 for a box of 12 250ml jars – Thanks, Rafael!).  I can take two or three jars to work now, which is much better.  I just have to juice the night before.  I’d better do that right now; it’s quite late.  I was organizing the stuff in the boxes that were in the locker, throwing out a lot of things and finding a ton of gift-wrapping items.  Let’s see if I remember it all at the new place…

Day 10

Weight loss: none

Purified water consumed: 10 cups

Juices:

·         Carrot and apple

·         Apple and spinach

·         Broccoli, cucumber, red pepper, Spanish onion, broccoli sprouts, carrot, romaine lettuce, parsnip, Swiss chard, 3 garlic cloves

Exercise: 20-minute walk

Other: Warm-water enema

Felt really good today.  It was so busy with one meeting after another, so there wasn’t much time to think about anything else, fortunately.  I was also prepared with my three Mason jars of juice.

One surprise: I went number-two a wee bit this morning.  When I juice fast, nothing happens in that department unless I make it happen, either with an enema or the dieter’s laxative tea.  This tells me the warm-water enemas are doing their job, much better than I had expected.  I get quite tired after doing this type of enema; I’m not sure why.  I went to sleep for two hours on the couch, then got up and cleaned up the glasses and juicer.

I’ll make my juices in the morning.  They’ll be really simple; I’m just about out of everything.

Day 11

Weight loss: 2 pounds

Purified water with lemon consumed: 10 cups

Juices:

·         Carrot, beet and apple

·         Apple, pear and grape

·         Apple

·         Carrot and sweet potato

Other: Coffee enema

Do I ever love having the carrot-and-sweet-potato juice!  Very filling!

I did a bit of research on bentanite clay and psyllium husks.  A good friend at work suggested that I take this combination of goodies to assist with cleaning out my colon.  The bentanite clay absorbs the toxins and is expelled from one’s system.  The psyllium husks get into the “nooks and crannies” in the colon and loosens old hardened fecal matter and mucus.  I have to think about whether I will buy this stuff.  The warm-water enema seems to be working well.  I really don’t think there is much old crap left to come out.

I was feeling anti-social today.  I was unusually cranky and didn’t want to speak with anyone.  Maybe my body is doing some deep cleansing.

Day 12

Weight loss: 1 pound

Purified water with lemon consumed: 10 cups

Juices:

·         Carrot and apple

·         Spinach and apple

·         Apple

·         Carrot, red pepper, lettuce, Swiss chard, parsnip, bean sprouts, celery, broccoli sprouts, 2 garlic cloves

Exercise: 20-minute walk

Other: Bentonite-and-psyllium (B&P) shake; warm-water enema

Well, I bought the bentonite clay and psyllium husks while on errand for some of our students.  I came across a really good article on the Internet about these two cleansing aides that convinced me to at least try them.  I mixed up the concoction at work at mid-afternoon and followed it up with a glass of purified water.  When I got home (very late – I beat Gary home by about 20 minutes), I did my enema.  There was a wee bit more waste matter than normal (as normal as it can be during a juice fast).  Maybe taking the shake in the morning will make a difference.

My period is one day away.  At least this explains my ever-changing moods this week.

Day 13

Weight loss: none

Purified water consumed: 6 cups

Water consumed: 2 cups

Juices:

·         Carrot and apple

·         Pineapple and kiwi

·         Apple

Exercise: 20-minute walk

Other: B&P shake; warm-water enema

What an exhausting day!  Today was the day our students graduated and presented their work to employers at our portfolio review.  It was well attended and worth the effort my director and I expended.  Thankfully, I planned for the day’s juice.  The issue later in the day was purified water.  I had four cups before leaving for the venue but didn’t have much opportunity to have any more than two cups while there.  The water probably wasn’t purified; it was in a carafe and I noticed every table in the presentation room had one.  I did what I had to do.  It also figured that I would develop a stale mouth during the event.  Niiiiiice.  Fortunately, I didn’t scare off any of our employers.

Gary missed the whole thing, unfortunately; the traffic was unusually heavy eastbound from Burlington right into Toronto.  I had started to worry, even after he left a message that he was on his way.  Two and a half hours later, he had arrived.  After he took a look at the students’ work and we admired the room in which it was located, we went to a Thai restaurant down the street so he could have some dinner before heading back up north.  Gary felt bad that he was eating in front of me; I was fine with it.  I knew that I could tuck into my one Mason jar of apple juice while on the bus heading home.  I had a bottle of water while he ate his meal; the food smelled really good. (He said it tasted really good and I should eat there when I’m done the cleanse.)  It’s funny how I don’t feel the urge to break my fast when I smell these great foods.

“Dr. Gary” prescribed for me lots of rest on the weekend.  I have every intention of filling that prescription.   I was even too tired to make a veggie juice when I got home.  I’m surprised I had the energy to do the enema.

Wowzers!  When someone tells you you’re full of s***, they’re not kidding!  I can’t believe what was still in my colon.  That B&P shake is definitely worth its weight in gold!

Day 14

Weight loss: 3 pounds

Purified water with lemon consumed: 12 cups

Juices:

·         Carrot, beet and apple

·         Pineapple and kiwi

·         Cabbage, cucumber, celery, green pepper, broccoli, spinach, 1 garlic clove

·         Carrot, red pepper, cucumber, lettuce, celery, broccoli sprouts, Swiss chard, parsnip, bean sprouts, 3 garlic cloves

Exercise: 10 minutes on rebounder, 1-hour walk

Other: B&P shake; warm-water enema

It felt really good to sleep in, though it wasn’t enough.  While doing this cleanse I need to have a lot of rest so my body gets a chance to do its repair work.  I followed “Dr. Gary’s” advice and didn’t do much all day.  The most industrious thing I did was walk to the health food store to get more organic carrots and lemons, and go to the drug store for some sundry items.

I tried on a whole pile of clothes this morning.  I didn’t think they could fit so differently in one week!  I now have to alter a few tops and my black Capri pants.  I also have to shop for jeans.  The one pair I have left will be way too big in another week, present trends continuing.  I’ve dropped one size!  Woo hoo!  The challenge I have now is figuring out what to wear to work.  This is a good challenge to have!

I used the rebounder for the first time in awhile.  When I bought it about four months ago, I didn’t know that one couldn’t use it if they weighed more than 220 pounds.  After five days of using it and reading the sticker on one of the legs, I was very disappointed and frustrated, so I packed it away.  Well, it’s awesome to know that I can confidently use it and not worry that the whole thing will give way under my weight.

Speaking of things giving way under me, I just remembered a time about ten years ago when I attended a church event to which a colleague at my former workplace invited me.  I wasn’t keen on attending but I wanted to support her.  I wore my black dress for all occasions that night.  My weight was in the 170s at the time.  After getting my food from the buffet area, I sat on one of those wooden chairs that seem to be standard furniture in church halls.  I felt it twist under me and it collapsed, with me tumbling onto the floor, plate and all.  Part of the chair caught my beautiful dress and ripped a nice hole in it.  That was one of life’s most embarrassing moments.  I went home shortly thereafter to lick my wounds, so to speak.  I believe it was after that incident that my weight started to creep upward yet again.
