In the city:
- Driving, walking, or skating Stanley Park.
-
Visit the Vancouver Aquarium.
(I loved their butterfly enclosure!)
- Enjoy the architecture of the north exit of Cathedral Place: gothic
Christ Church Cathedral, art deco Marine Building, chateau-style Fairmont
Hotel, post-modernistic Cathedral Centre.
- Check out what's happening at Robson's Square and
shop Robson
Street, where the "taste trippings" of Zin, Milestones, Le
Crepe Bretonne, or Inlets (at the Blue Horizon Hotel) will tempt you.
- Take the elevator to the Lookout at Harbour Centre, Hastings and
Seymour.
- Stroll the soaring canopies of Canada Place, looking at cruise
ships, and take in an Imax film.
- Shop the Granville Island public market and check with Ecomarine
Kayak for lessons or trips.
- Visit Kitsilano to eat or drink and enjoy the beach.
- Explore the MacMillan Space Center.
- Eat at Cadero's, the Sand Bar on Granville Island, or the Teahouse at

Near the city:
- Hike the Primeval forest of North Vancouver
to the Lighthouse on Point Atkinson.
-
Walk across Capilano Bridge ($13) and through the forest, reading about
the plants and trees. Visit the Capilano Salmon Hatchery, up the road.
-
Take
a seabus from Waterfront Station to Lonsdale Quay and
enjoy the spectacular Farmer's Market.
- Take gondola "Skyride" up to lunch on the patio of Grouse
Mountain. Then take a chairlift to the top to play in the snow.
Sherry's tip: Avoid crossing the Lions's Gate Bridge
during rush hour!

Outside of the city:
- Ferry to Vancouver
Island and drive to Butchart Gardens in Victoria.
If you're staying in North Vancouver, you'll ferry to and from Horsehoe
Bay to Nanaimo.
Stop to see the murals of Chamainus, on your drive
south. Take fish and chips to the park, or enjoy calamari and Okanagan
Peach Cider on the patio at YaYa's Oyster Bar, going in or out of Horsehoe
Bay. B&B
at the Gatsby Mansion or Judge's House in Victoria.
- Drive the Sea to Sky Highway (It lives up to its name!)
to Whistler.
Ride the gondola as far as you can and use slickers to sled down snowy
hills! Make the long, hard hike to the top to see glaciers! Ride
a
summer
loge
in
Adventure
Village.
Shop
and eat well
- On your way to or from Whistler, Shannon Falls Park is
a must on 99 north. An easy hike, you cross a creek on a bridge to see
beautiful waterfalls. Between Squamish and Whistler, you'll also find
Tantalus Mountain Range views, Alice Lake Park, and Brandywine Falls
Park. You
might also choose to picnic at Alice Lake, where you can swim or walk
all the
way
around
it.
