| Sensational Sherri left the World Wrestling Federation in 1993, driven out by Luna Vachon. For a few months, Sherri recovered and appeared in some independent promotions. In 1994, she made her return to big-time wrestling, joining Ted Turner�s World Championship Wrestling as a manager.
At first, fans were not sure what to make of Sherri, who switched to calling herself �Sensuous� Sherri. She made her first major appearance in WCW at 1994�s �Clash of the Champions XVII� in a world championship match between Sting and Ric Flair. The fans were clearly behind Sting, and many were hoping Sherri would choose to manage him. Sherri came to ringside with her face painted like Sting�s, so most fans assumed she had chosen to be on the side of �good.� Fans should have known better. After all, this was Sherri. During the battle between Flair and Sting, Sensuous Sherri turned on the crowd favorite and joined forces with Flair. Sherri stabbed Sting in the back, showing she was just as wicked and devious as she had always been. Sherri and Flair attacked Sting and were in the process of beating him to a pulp when Hulk Hogan came to the ring to save Sting! The appearance of the Hulkster sent Sherri and Flair running for cover. It also opened up a new chapter in Sherri�s long running war against Hogan. A world championship match was signed between Hogan and Flair for the 1994 edition of Bash at the Beach. Once again, Sherri would find herself in the corner of a man across the ring from Hogan, just as she had during her time in the WWF. In WCW, however, she had the advantage- she was managing the champion, not the challenger. It didn�t matter. As he had so many other times, Hogan thwarted Sherri�s plans and good defeated evil. Despite choking the Hulkster with her nylons and even delivering a splash off the top rope, Sherri could not overcome Hogan and the forces of Hulkamania. Hogan defeated Flair at Bash at the Beach 94 and became WCW Champion. Sherri wasn�t ready to surrender yet. Flair and Sherri challenged Hogan to a match for the title at Halloween Havoc 94. The stakes could not have been higher- the winner would be WCW Champion and the loser would be forced to retire! To add even more intrigue, the match would take place inside a steel cage! Sherri and Hogan�s manager, Jimmy Hart, would be outside so the two combatants could settle the score by themselves! Of course, being Sherri, she was determined not to let a steel cage stand in the way of her interference and illegal tactics. Sensuous Sherri attempted to climb the cage and enter the battle! At first she was prevented from getting in the cage when Jimmy Hart and then Sting tried to stop her. Hart even stripped off Sherri�s dress, leaving her in her lingerie! Finally Sherri was able to get in the cage to help Flair. In the end, Sherri was again defeated by Hogan and Flair was forced into (temporary!) retirement. Halloween Havoc marked the end of Sherri and Flairs� alliance. Would Sherri rebound from her latest defeat at the hands of Hulk Hogan? |
