PEACE GROWS

Christmas and the awe of the children
Bright colored eyes aglow
Reflections in all their imaginings
Caroling toe to toe

Hats and ear muffs to fight the chill
Mittens and scarves galore
Laughter for joy in the moments
Peace in our hearts once more

It's the time of year to get fancy
All velvet and dandied up
Bright colored ribbons for hair bows
True jinglebells for our pups

It's Christmas with all the trimmings
It's hearts full to their fill
It's smells of evening candles
Single ones lit on the sills

Just look at all the wreaths displayed
Upon porches so splendid down south
Notice the bow of mistletoe
Attaching the lips to mouths

Ears to the drone of a jingle
Coming from way down the street
Goodness could it be Kris Kringle
The man most kids want to meet?

The myth of the holiday season
The greatness that keeps us all small
The hardened hearts of adult life
Now beats with the child in us all

The wonder of mysterious giving
The tear in the eyes of the weak
The hands of enemies holding
The hearts now beathing in peace

The hearts and broken boundaries
Whether family, friend or foe
It's music that merges between us
It's peace and letting it grow
