OKLAHOMA CHRISTMAS DREAM

Down the lane I am going
to my snow covered cabin
where the scent of pine burning
takes me back again.
To the hills of Oklahoma
the valleys in the winter chll
so long away from home
but I can see it still.
Christmas lights and old time carols,
sincere feelings are always a part.
There's no one there I know now
but I have these memories in my heart.
Oklahoma, Oklahoma,
see the snow falling down,
where I was born and dream of still
that little one horse town.
Simple dreams and pleasures
meant the whole world to me,
wish the holidays
were like this sitll you see,
but whenever I want to travel there
I just look to the stories in my mind
and travel back to yesterday
and sweet and simple pleasures I find.
Oklahoma, Oklahoma,
just a wish away
and if God grants me the gift I ask for
I will be there some Christmas Day.

"I was asked to write a poem quickly
for Christmas, I started thinking of home."
