Christmas Should Be

The spirit of Christmas giving
Should be in all our living
Not just friendly smiles
Or a tree with twinkling lights
Or those familiar carols
Not just brightly wrapped packages
Or that good, good feeling
We get at this time of year,,,

It really ought to mean
The reporduction in human lives
Of the temperament of Him
Who for our sakes became poor
The spirit of those who
Like their Master
Live their lives
On the principle of
Making themselves poor...

Spending and being spent
To enrich their fellowmen
Giving time, care and concern
To do good to others
Where there is a need..

Christmas should be
A look beyond the manger
To the cross at Calvary
