Unofficial Hi-Point Website

Who likes Hi-Points? Most people say they like the carbines but hate the pistols. I think they're both good!

I bought a Hi-Point 9mm pistol for $110 brand new. It will produce 3" groups at 35'. It jammed a couple of times initially but I fixed that by adjusting the magazine. The feed lips were too tight which caused the first round in each magazine to nose dive.

My .45 ACP cost $150 brand new . This pistol will produce a 2 1/2" groups at 35' and has never jammed. It's alot of fun to shoot but doesn't handle as well as the 9mm. The slide is huge making it top-heavy and the recoil is brutal. They also use a very heavy recoil spring on the .45 making it hard to rack the slide.

Both pistols work fine with hollowpoints but I prefer ball ammo, here's why:

  1. Most autos do better with ball ammo

  2. It penetrates better

  3. Hollowpoints need to travel faster than 1100 fps in order to expand reliably

  4. Ball ammo is cheaper

All things considered I really like my Hi-Points. They can handle +P ammo and come with a no-hassle lifetime warranty. They are large and fat but can be concealed with the right holster. I plan on buying the carbine as soon as it's available in .45 ACP.

Carbines are currently available in 9mm or .40S&W. The .45ACP version should be available in late 2005.

9mm pistol with compensater and extended magazine. It's also available in a compact version with a shorter barrel (no compensator) and standard 8 round magazine.

The .45 ACP. Who says Hi-Points are ugly? The only thing I don't like about this pistol is it's top heavy. Hi-Point uses a straight blowback system. This requires a massive slide to handle the .45 ACP cartridge. It's fun to shoot but you may want to wear a glove on your shooting hand.
