Busan Metropolitan City, the second largest city in Korea, has an ambitious plan to develop into a world-class international maritime city. As part of a long-term plan to enhance the contemporary image of the city, the municipal authorities have announced an international idea competition for the design of the Busan Tower Complex that will be a landmark symbolizing the emerging status of this dynamic and growing port city.

Location: Busan, Republic of Korea.
Area : 3600 m²

The project simply describes a dragon which comes out of the ground, flings into the sky & then comes back to earth performing a twist action which expresses the continued movement of the dragon,

relates to the Korean flag which consists of two colors twisting around each other figure (3).

The tower measures up at 140m in height, ended with 150m2 sky lounge, giving you the chance to observe the hole town 360 degree round.

At the entrance of the project you can observe shade strips are covering the entrance activities plaza, acting like they are moving by wind current, stable on metal tubes supports standing not vertically to give you the impression of the Asian dragon dance figure (4),figure (5).

One of these strips is touches the ground performing as an extra smooth entrance to the exhibition building, puts you up onto the top of it, which you can tour the building & access dairectly to the tower.

The symbolism :

(1)- The twisted glass arch which dominated on
the form symbol to the spirit of the past ,heritage
and ancient culture .
the transparency of the glass refers to the spiritual beliefs of ancient Korean and the purity and act
as vision of the past .

(2)- The twisted titanium arch is a symbol to the evolution and modern civilization of the present .
the glossiness and golden colour of titanium refers to power , modernity and knowledge .

(3)-The form of the tower is embracing the spirit of past and the present
(embracing the glass arch with titanium arch in twist movement ) like embracing between spirit and body.
Titanium and glass sharing in glossiness propertying so were used to form the tower
to act as glossy gate of the future.
