Part VIII

"Oh gee great Sarris, leave me with another visitor that I have to heal.

"What?!?! I can't help it! It was the only way that we could have known that she wasn't making it all up to put on a show for us to see."

"For the love of God! You could have at least hit her with less force you know! "

"That was partly her own fault."

"Oh! Be quiet will you?" said an exasperated Oceana. The pearl orb on top of her staff began to pulse and a faint light began to appear. Minuets later the light began to fade and the staff eventually returned to normal. "She'll be fine in a little while. Let her have my bed for now."

"Fine by me. But...now we know that we have an inside alliance and that will be a tactical advantage
that Pelth won't have."

"True. But the problem is that their leader is locked up in a tower according to Cham. And if what she says it true, that he's beaten up on a regular basis, he can't be in any kind of condition to try and escape. Which means that either we help get him out, or try to work through Cham."

"No we have to get him out. Working through Cham would be too dangerous. Messages can always go wrong, people can get changed. No, there's far too many risks working through Cham. But with Cham's help, a rescue shouldn't be that hard. We'll know both the best time and place to attempt a rescue."

A sudden movement form the direction of the bed caught Oceana's eye. "Gohan, you better get a glass of wine ready. She's going to have one hell of a headache when she truly wakes up." said Oceana as she walked to the bed to help Cham.

"Uhhh....I have a headache about the size of Pelth!"

"Well, Sarris did knock you our pretty well there." replied Gohan as he put the goblet into her hand.

"Cham, before you start ranting and raving again, let us tell you the reason why I said those things earlier. Actually, it's quite a simple one." Said Sarris in as soothing a voice as possible.

"You see Cham, we weren't sure if you were telling us the truth or not. Sure you were projecting loud and clear but anyone can do that. We needed a method that would show us your true feelings and prove your sincerity." said Oceana.

"And the only way we could do that was by saying something to really upset you if you truly cared." continued Sarris.

"But believe me, Sarris never meant to hit you that hard. And it's just that recently, things haven't been going all that well and well..."

Oceana continued for him, "We don't doubt you anymore. To prove that, I helped heal you after Sarris knocked you out. I wouldn't have done that if I didn't trust you."

"So you're really NOT going to burn down the country, just to avoid that war."

Oceana laughed out loud at the relieved look on Cham's face. "No, of course not. No one the staff will accept has the power of Firestarting, so don't worry. There's not going to be fire popping out randomly any point soon."

"What you mean 'the staff will accept'?"

"That's a story that can wait for a later day. You need your rest and the rest of us need to return to our duties. Go ahead and sleep some more Cham."

"I want to sleep, but with a head ache this size...I don't think I can!"

"Don't worry. I'll take care of that."

"How?"

"Just watch."

The staff began to glow again and in a short while Cham's headache was gone and was peacefully drifting off to sleep.

"Good-night Cham. And welcome to Sirvan."
