Review: I have just finished reading this book. It is great! Another great book from Brock and Bodie Thoene. It is a long book, but don't be intimidated by size, the interest level will keep you reading. As usual, with the Thoenes' books, I stayed up all night just to finish this one. ;-) I recommend this book to anyone, especially if you like history or historical fiction. I have learned more about history by reading these books than I ever learned in school! Even if you do not like history, give this book a try, I am sure you will like it! Back to top VIENNA PRELUDE Book One of The Zion Covenant This is the first book I read by Bodie Thoene. It follows a German Jewess, Elisa Linder (Lindheim). She is a violinist with the Vienna philharmonic when Hitler comes to power and begins his "1000 year Reich". As I read this book, I grieved for Austria as it fell into his Hitler's hands, and for the many souls who perished under his evil grasp. This first book of the Zion Covenant is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat! Back to top The Zion Covenant Review by [email protected] from Jacksonville, Florida , 11/08/97, rating=10: This Series Makes History Live! This series is about pre-World War II Nazi Germany. It makes history come alive as it describes Hitler's driving passion to conquer the world, and England's passiveness in allowing Hitler to have his way. The books tell the story of the Lindheim family, who were rich Christian Jews. Elisa, a violinist in the Vienna Orchestra, is forced to hide her Jewish ancestry from her friends as anit-Semitism continues to rise and is torn away from the man she loves when he becomes in the Nazi cause. Theo Lindheim was a World War I hero for the Fatherland of Germany, but soon his friends and fellow officers began to turn on him and finally had him arrested and put in a Jewish concentration camp. Throughout the series, the Lindheims help many Jews, especially children, escape the wrath of the Jew-hating Nazis. The series is written in an easy-to-read manner, yet you come away knowing more about history than you even realize. You will probably come away hating Prime Minister Chamberlain and his spineless actions, despising Hitler for his inhumane persecutions, loving Winston Churchill for standing the right, and laughing and crying with the Lindheims as they experience joy and tragedy. This series is a must for any lover of historical fiction. Order The Zion Covenant today! Back to top The Zion Chronicles Synopsis: Out of the ashes of the holocaust, a sweeping historical drama of an infant nation, her brave people, and their struggle for survival against overwhelming odds. Part of a review by Jenn Daley from Crescent City, CA, USA , June 13, 1999: A great series on the Israeli War of Independence. This great fiction series chronicles the events of the Israeli War of Independence; focusing both on the personal stories of people who were there, and also giving a great overview of the entire story.
