The potential reader of the Wood Block Printing article would be someone interested in Asian traditions and culture, someone who works in the printing industry, or even an artist wanting to understand or use the techniques. As one of my first page layout designs, I didn’t want to be too ambitious with design and focusing on grasping the concepts of effective layouts. There are more subtle inspirations from Japan, since the article is about Japanese woodblock printing. The background image is a Japanese river canal, but just low opacity to leave the majority of the page white so the body of the article did not get lost against the background. The pops of red introduce color to the page and aid in emphasis of certain elements, which is reminiscent of the Japanese flag.
