If it wasn’t obvious from the name, Selkirk Abbey Brewing Company, is inspired by religious history. This Old English style is prominent in the font choice and the design for the logo itself comes from the Saint Benedict medal. It has been heavily simplified for modern times, but still reflects the inspiration that Selkirk Abbey uses throughout their brand. The inspiration from the Saint Benedict Medal, which can is most noticeably seen in the shape of the design itself but this also comes through in the elements of the font choices and the color palette.
