The iHeat project was a college engineering senior project at the University of Idaho, and the poster is meant to be informative for the purposes of a presentation. The poster summarizes the project highlighting the most important parts. Most of my visual inspiration for the iHeat poster came from the Apple branding style at the time which was predominately bright and minimal. These choices come through the strongest in the styling of the name of the project and the sans serif body text. The poster is meant to be informational, so the design does contain quite a bit of text. By columnizing the text, it helps the viewer read the poster as if it were an article and is appropriate for its purpose as a presentation piece.
