Martin Luther King Essay Contest
The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission of Enid, Oklahoma would like to invite your students to join us in celebrating the ideals of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by participating in the Poster and Essay Contest. By participating in the celebration, the area youth will have the opportunity to achieve the ideals Dr. King set forth in his lifetime.
The poster and essay contests are divided into the following grade levels: 7-9, and 10-12. Awards will be given to the three best essays and posters in each division. Essays are to be limited to 300 words for K-9 and 500 words for 10-12. Posters are to be no larger than 36 x 48 inches and no smaller than 8 1/2 x 11 inches. Each entry needs to have the student name, school, teacher, and grade on the back. Enclosed you will find flyers with the specifics for the poster and essay contests to post in your school.
The essays need to be submitted on line by Tuesday January 9th by 10:00 p.m.. All poster and written essays may be turned in to the Waller Library by Thursday January 10th to Mrs. Innis. No late entries will be accepted.
In addition, the Commission would like to invite everyone that participates to attend the 2000 King Celebration on January 14, 2000 at Mark Price Arena at 3:00 p.m. Recognition will be given to the winners of the essay and poster contests at this time.
