NOTICE
ONLY AUTHORIZED PERSONS AND STUDENTS PERMITTED.

ALL VISITORS MUST OBTAIN AUTHORIZATION AT SCHOOL OFFICE  UPON ENTERING THE GROUNDS.

TRESPASSERS WILL BE REPORTED.
Checklist for Evaluating Access Points

1. Have panic bars been installed on all exit doors?

2. Has a policy been implemented to minimize the number of campus entrances and exits?

3. Are all entrances and exits checked on a regular basis for security?

4. Do all staff members understand the importance of securing doors behind them?

5. Are there methods in place that require delivery entrances to be checked regularly?

6. Is the building properly secured during and after evening and week-end activities?

7. Is it possible to isolate portions of the building for after-school activities through the use of interior gates?

8. Are teachers, staff, and students instructed NOT to open doors to visitors?

9. Are signs that direct visitors to the main office clearly posted on all entrances?

10. Have all security measures been provided for outside portable buildings?

11. Are there periodic checks by the administration to ensure that all windows are securely closed?

12. Are there periodic checks by the administration to ensure that all classrooms are locked when not in use?
Parameter Supervision Policy
Inspections of school parameters will be conducted at the school both during the day and at night. It will be the responsibility of the day and evening custodial staffs to periodically check the outside parameters of the school building. Teachers with windows facing to the outside of the building should also report any suspicious behavior to the office. Any parent, teacher, or student who witnesses an unidentified person loitering on the outside grounds should report this information to the main office.
Checklist for Traffic Control and
Parking Lot Supervision
1. Are two-way radios provided for all parking lot supervisors?

2. Have policies been developed that regulate the flow of traffic in and out of the parking lot?

3. Is the campus closed during lunch?

4. Is the parking lot fenced and gated?

5. Is the parking lot supervised during the school day?

6. Are the entrance and exit points to the parking lot supervised before and after school?

7. Have school traffic regulations been communicated via the student handbook?

8. Do the students know to whom they should report all parking lot violations and concerns?

9. Do the students know the retribution for unsafe behaviors in the parking lot?

10.Have handicapped parking spaces been made available and clearly marked?

11.Are specific parking areas designated for visitors, faculty, and students?

12.Is there a designated parking area for motor cycles?

13.Are driving regulations strictly enforced with violators receiving immediate suspension of their parking privileges?

14.Are parking lot speed limits clearly posted?

15.Are individual parking spaces and traffic lanes clearly marked?
Protective Lighting Checklist
Are parking lots, building entrances, and outside parameters well lit?

Does the school maintenance program include the replacement and repair of outside lights?

Are all security lights on timers or sensors to conserve energy?

Is there an inside lighting plan for after-school hours in specific areas of the school building?
Communication Systems Checklist
Can teachers contact the office through in-house phones or by use of a panic button in each classroom?

Is there a public address system that can be used to broadcast emergency messages through the school? It is also helpful to have a two-way public address system for broadcasting and communicating with individual classrooms.

Does the school have two-way portable walkie-talkie or radio units for use in routine and emergency situations?

Does the school provide training for the proper use of two-way radios and cellular phones?

Can pay phones be monitored or removed from the hallways and school grounds in order to reduce loitering, rumor control, prank 911 calls, and related misuse?

Are phone systems easily accessible to all school personnel at key locations within the school?

Is there a regular maintenance program for the upkeep of all communication systems?
