The World Wide Web is quickly becoming a resource for schools, and many schools are now establishing their own web sites. There are various reasons for establishing a school web site, but in most cases the goals are all related in some way to three essential functions: (a). to provide current information about the school, (b). a means to provide two-way communications with the community and (c).the opportunity to expand student learning. Some typical curricular functions (web site activities that support learning) include providing instructions about participating in a project, showcases for student work and develop instructional units that provide additional learning resources through linkages. In this chapter, the authors will provide useful information on how to develop a school web site.
