417th Bombardment Group (L)
674th Bombardment Squadron (L)
In Honor of
My Dad
S/Sgt Joseph J. Novak
My dad enlisted in The United States Army Air Force on October 12, 1942.  He was 29 years old. He left behind his widowed mother, and many other family members.  I am proud to say that he was a true patriot, willing to put his life on the line so that future generations would be able to live in a free world.  Unfortunately, he passed away in 1965, at the age of 52, when I was only 9 years old.  All I have left are wonderful memories, and a box full of memorabilia from his days in the service.  I decided to do some research on his Squad while surfing the internet and stumbled across many different web sites honoring numerous Bombardment Groups from WWII, but only one for the 417th Bombardment Group (L).  I e-mailed the owner of the site and found out that it was created by the gentleman's daughter as a tribute to her father.  She inspired me to do the same for my dad.  The 674th Bombardment Squadron (L) aided greatly in the Pacific Theater of operations in WWII. Along with the other Squadrons in the 417th Bombardment Group (L), and the 5th Air Force, under the direction of General Kenney, they were able to lead our country to victory.
