| Member Profile: Howard J Johnson (also known as Joe) Donnie Sweet tells the story of how Howard Johnson became a member and club supporter. Over 10 years ago Donnie ran an ad in the Valley Trader for "Mopar parts for sale". Mr Johnson saw the ad and called to see if Donnie had a 426 motor for sale. They talked about Donnie rebuilding a big block 318 (some say the old 318 or wide block) for Joe's 1965 Dodge Coronet 500 (pictured below). They met and Mr Johnson shared became a long time club member. Each year he helps with money for the kids toys drive at Christmas. Donnie had a 413 engine that he bored out to a 426 with 11-1 max wedge pistons,a set of 906 heads with a little extra work on them, and a magnum cam. Donnie's uncle rebuilt the transmission (the old dodge had some trans trouble but has been fixed). Mr Johnson had 2/1/2 inch exhaust and a posi-unit put in, and the car roars. If you are up in Bealeton Va, and a OLD light blue Dodge blows you off the road; you may have met Mr Johnson. And some day soon (with a little help from Mike Beasley) Mr Johnson has a 1968 gold Road Runner (440 hp, 4speed,323 rear) that will be blowing the doors off any Chevy, Ford, or noisy little rice burners up north. All of us from the Shenandoah Valley Mopar Club would like to say thank you for your support!!!!!!!!!! Tell or send me your stories! |
