OUR BEAUTIFUL LACE

Lace was born March 24, 1993. She loved to beat up on her littermates. She was the only girl. We gave her the name Black Lace for this reason.

When we brought her home she hid from Cori and Banni. They were so big to her. It was cute to see this little head peaking around our legs. Well it didn't stay that way for long. Our pretty girl decided it would be a good idea to take over Banni's place. For a while it was bad. We eventually had to seperate the girls.

She was about 6 months old. Company came to visit. She thought it was a good idea to greet them at the door. Good thing they were big. She launched herself off the top step at the second floor and landed in his arms. The whole time giving him kisses. To her, this was great. In this pic, she is about 8 months old. She was no puppy anymore.

She could not make up her mind who she was going to belong to her. When she had her first litter, she would not settle till both of us were with her. Any one could be there while she was delivering. To her, the more the merrier.

She could never get enought attention. The more you gave her, the more she wanted.

We had to take her to the vets. Her one leg started to swell. This started on the Friday night. By Sunday evening, she could not raise the leg to climb the steps. The first thing that crossed my mind was cancer. Was not that.

She went to lie down on the floor in the examining room when there was an ungoddly pop. It was her leg. It was so full of infection that it exploded. Left a hole in the back of her leg that would easily fit a mans thumb.

Well this made it so she had to stay in the vets over night. We got a call from him the next morning. She would not let him or his coleagues anywhere near her. She acted so bad, they said they would have thought we brought in a viscious dog for them to look after. The vet had been her Dr. since she was a little baby. She growled and snapped at any one who went close to her.

So needless to say, he was unable to look after her. While we were there we had to give her a bath and clean her up. They could not get over the change in her when we got their. All they could say was that mom and dad were there. He gave her another needle for the fever and infection.

We took her home and did what had to be done there.

About a year later at the age of 8 years old, we noticed that she had small lumbs all over her body. They looked like the cists she had on the top of her head. We had that one removed. The vet checked it and there was no problem with it.

About a month later some of them started to weep. At the same time, I noticed that her one shoulder looked like it had dropped to her side. She showed no signs of pain. She still played hard and fast. She got so she could not go up and down stairs.

We had it checked. The results were not what we wanted for her. She had cancer and displacea in her shoulder. We did not hesitate. We did the best thing for her that we could.

She now waits for us the other side of the rainbow bridge. She is no longer in pain and is very happy. Lace is probably beating up on Banni who went there the year before.

We miss you Lace and will always love you. We will meet again one day at the bridge and be a family again.
