By this we know that we love the children of God,
when we love God, and keep His commandments.
For this is the love of God,
that we keep His commandments: and His
commandments are not grevious." 1 John 5:2, 3

~~~Warning Against False Teachers in the Church~~~
Introduction:
In the previous study about King Josiah, he learned that the wrath of God was about to fall on the people of God who had been living in great apostasy, or disobedience to God's Law. In the Bible is great warning given to the people of God living in the last days, all who put faith in Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour from sin. The warning is, not to live in transgression of the Law of God, but to love and obey Jesus fully, to avert the wrath of God coming on the world so that it won't fall on us! 2 John 7 warns us that "many deceivers are entered into the world." How may we discern who are false and who are true, so that we may know that we are following Jesus Christ?
1. What is one of the antichrist teachings of the last days?
2 John verses 5-7 : ___________________________________________________________________
Note: While God has told us to love one another and keep His commandments, there are many deceivers gone out into the world who say that Jesus Christ is not come in the flesh.
2. What will the antichrist be doing so that we may know who he is?
2 John 9_____________________________________________________________________
Note: "Whosoever transgresseth [transgression of the Law of God]." So the antichrist also transgresses the Law of God, another sign of the antichrist power.
3. What must Christians do to continue in the warfare Satan wages against our common salvation?
Jude verses 1-3_______________________________________________________________
4. What does the teaching of ungodly men do to the power of the gospel, God's grace?
Jude 4________________________________________________________________________
Lasciviousness is letting sinful desires and inordinate passions of the flesh have sway in our bodies, as if there were no law against them. In other words, "lawlessness." This denies the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ, who are trying to save us from lasciviousness by the true gospel. God did not save us from sin, only so that we could keep on sinning without any guilt. No, He came to remove both the guilt and the love of sin out of our lives, to keep us from sinning.
5. What examples does God give of those who once knew God and His power, but became disobedient and were destroyed or are reserved for destruction?
a. Jude 5 _____________________________________________________________________
b. Jude 6 _____________________________________________________________________
c. Jude 7 _____________________________________________________________________
6. How evil are the teachers who turn the gospel of God into lasciviousness?
Jude 8_________________________________________________________________________
A filthy dreamer is one who thinks impure thoughts and is hooked in defiling himself through impurity. He despises the God-given civil authorities to restrain his actions, and speaks evil of those who are godly in command in the church. He cannot overcome sin in his life because of his selfish attitude, and will try to pull others down to his level. He disgraces the doctrine of Jesus Christ, while claiming to be a Christian. He may get caught up working secretly in the church to pull down others with him. So that is why we have the warning against these false teachers. It is now known that in certain churches there are ungodly men of this sort who have committed known sin who were claiming to be priests of God to the people!
7. The Bible goes on to condemn such teachers in the church. What will be their judgment if they continue on such a course when Jesus comes?
Jude 14-15_____________________________________________________________________
8. Should we be murmuring and complaining because God gives us His Law that we might know to do good, and not evil?
Jude 16________________________________________________________________________
9. Were we told that there would be mockers in the last days?
Jude 17-19, 2 Peter 3:1-7______________________________________________________
10. Do we as Christians have a work to do to save ourselves and others from the trap Satan lays out for us through these false teachers in the church?
Jude 20-23_____________________________________________________________________
11. Who only will keep us from falling into the sin of turning the grace of God into lasciviousness?
Jude 24-25_____________________________________________________________________
Note: 2 Peter is a good book to read to help you understand more of this warning against false teachers and prophets. Also, read Matthew 24.
Today there is a false teaching that the Law of God which we have always believed to be the eternal principles of the Ten Commandments, was done away with at the cross of Jesus Christ. Can you imagine if that was so? Even to do away with one commandment would bring heartache upon this world that would know no bounds.
12. If one commandment is broken in the Law of God, how many commandments are broken?
James 2:8-12___________________________________________________________________
13. Did Jesus teach that we are to break the Ten Commandments?
Matthew 5:17-20________________________________________________________________
14. How can we keep the Ten Commandments?
Romas 8:3, 4, John 14:15_______________________________________________________
We must know Jesus Christ personally as our Saviour from sin. As we abide in Christ and He in us, we can do His will perfectly step by step in our Christian walk.
15. What is the only condition for receiving eternal life?
John 17:3______________________________________________________________________
Note: This is where false teachers have failed in coming to know Jesus as their personal Saviour from sin. Those who have a superficial knowledge of Christ, and do not trust in Him for salvation from every sin, will become teachers of falsehood.
It is my prayer that we may get to know Jesus Christ by walking every day in the light of the Bible truth first delivered to the Saints. May we make that our purpose, to get to know both God and His Son Jesus Christ,in daily Bible study and prayer, as we plead with Him to deliver us from our sins that seem to encapsulate us. Satan's power will be dissolved when we flee to Christ in every temptation.
