To My Daughter with Love

Some people will be your friend
because of whom you know
Some people will be your friend
because of your position
Some people will be your friend
because of the way you look
Some people will be your friend
because of your possessions
But the only real friends
are the people who will be your friends
because they like you for how you are inside

Gardening Tips

For those of you with a tiny designated area for gardening, the following tips from Mel Bartholomew, author of Square Foot Gardening, should help maximize crop yield!

*Start your garden in an area that receives full sun at least six hours a day.
*Build the garden in a bed raised six inches and edge with lumber.
*Divide the space into 16 square-foot blocks, then fill with a mixture of equal parts compost, peat moss and coarse vermiculite.
*Plant only one variety of crop per block. Depending on the plant's mature size, plan for one, four, nine or 16 equally spaced plants per square foot.
*Only plant one or two seeds in each spot, and do so by making a shallow hole with your finger. Cover, but do not pack the soil.
*Water each square as required.
*Harvest continually. Once a crop in a square is finished, remove a trowelful of soil and replace it with the same amount of new compost, then plant something else.

***
Note from Shelley:*** I started using this method of square foot gardening a few years back and have been fairly successful with it. Especially since my favorite veggies are lettuce, carrots, radishes, beets, tomatoes and spinach. They all do very well in this type of arrangement! Good luck to all of you!

For the Love of Your Life on Father's Day

It is so bewildering
that I cannot put into words
what you mean to me...
but I think that when I hold
you...silently...
it is all said.
The first time I said,
"I love you,"
I was satisfied then that
you knew,
but the more I know you,
the more we talk,
the more we share,
I know those words are so
inadequate.
You are all of those beautiful,
tender things ever said
...and much, much more.
I don't just love you
anymore...
I live you.

FEATURED WAHM of the MONTH

Caryn Fitzgerald of
www.FitzbyDesign.com

Name and Business:
Caryn Fitzgerald - FitzByDesign
Location: Grand Prairie, TX (Dallas/Fort Worth area)
Your family: My business partner and partner in life is my husband, Rick. We have a beautiful daughter, Samantha (3), and two felines, Sophie (5) and Skylar (4). My darling husband is the only male in the house.
When you were young, what did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to work with criminals in prison as a counsellor. **I succeeded in achieving this goal as I hold a Masters in Counseling and worked in the prison system before becoming a WAHM.**
Who do you look up to? My mother-in-law. She is truly an amazing woman. She has been thru both good and bad times and has managed to always come out on top. She is kind enough to pass on her secrets to me and I am just amazed by her everyday.
What motivates you to be a WAHM?
I spent too many years working my tail off in corporate America. I refuse to go back, so to keep my hubby from cutting up my checkcard, I have to do something to earn money. Seriously, though, I enjoy the flexibility I have, working for myself. I can be with my family whenever I need and want to be,
without having to "call in".

What does FitzByDesign offer?
We offer three complimentary product lines: Cookie Lee Fine Fashion Jewelery, PS I Love You Stationary Items and Arbonne Botanical Skin Care for the family. In addition, we also provide very affordable web sites and hosting, which allows the smaller businesses to build at their own rate.
Site prices start at $25.

What kind of specials, contests, or newsletters does your company provide?
We offer a free newsletter entitled "Enhance Your Business", a FREE Bag-of-Hugs ($1 to cover postage) and monthly specials through the newsletter.
What are your favorite products that you sell?
All of the PS I Love You Stationary products. I love them since everything can be personalized for anyone or any event. I enjoy the "special" touch they allow me to offer.
What is your favorite part about being a WAHM? Being able to sleep in and work in my bunny slippers!
Any advice for our fellow WAHM readers? Take it slowly! Do not jump at the first opportunity that comes along. Take time to see what is out there, develop your own interests and most importantly, do not be afraid to step out of your comfort zone.
Anything else you would like to mention to our readers? Yes, I would like to mention that I am offering a FREE STATIC BUTTON to the first 10 people who read my feature and email me.

Well, thank you so much Caryn for sharing so much about yourself and your company! Good luck in all your ventures!
Happy Father's Day!
