Chapter 5: Decisions

 

"Hello?"

 

"Hey, Rach, it's me," Cassie said into the phone as her best friend answered.

 

Rachel smiled. "Hey, Cass. What's up?"

 

Cassie sighed. "Well, Jake and I need some advice."

 

"Shoot."

 

"Okay. I got accepted into the UCLA School of Vet Medicine, and Jake got accepted into the NYU Teaching School. So far that's the only place Jake's been accepted to, and UCLA's the only school I even applied to. Neither of us want to give up our dreams, so we have a little problem," Cassie explained.

 

Rachel played with a piece of her hair. "Hmm. Any fights yet?"

 

"Nope."

 

"Well, what about Pasadena? Didn't Jake apply there, too?" she wondered.

 

Cassie sighed again. "Yeah, that and San Diego State. Unfortunately, he hasn't heard from San Diego State yet and Pasadena sent him a rejection letter."

 

"Ouch."

 

"Yep."

 

Rachel thought for a second. "Okay. So you totally want to go to the UCLA School of Whatever, and Jake totally wants to go to the NYU School of Whatever, and neither of you have been accepted anywhere else, but neither of you wanna give up your dreams."

 

"Exactly."

 

"Hmm. Cass, you know I've always given you advice on just about anything and everything, but I totally hate to tell you that I have no clue what you should do. I’m really sorry, though," Rachel apologized.

 

Cassie frowned. "Dang it. Well, thanks anyways," she said, and hung up.
