the pain of self
deception whispered
of the gems and hearts
that he had owned and bled
in tasteless hunger that
we could not satisfy
with love.

he fell:

away from us,
though the dolphins
in the bay felt it first and
shaped their ocean contrails
into healing spirals for
his need to swim in,
insane to beauty ...

he drowned:

weighted down
and chained to treasures
he had stolen and been given
his complex mind chose death,
turning to the liquidheart
waiting deep inside the
waves for him.

and now we:

sit and look upon
the ocean contrails
left for us by dolphins ...
alone inside:
home
