The Killer Pole and Albert's hard head!
The weekend in the Mountains didn't turn out like planned. We scouted and cut some trees, went to put up the stringers (cross members) on the pole building and some freak action caused the first one up to fall. Unfortunatly, Albert was right under it and it crowned him. He took two steps and down he went. I thought it knocked him out. It didn't, but even though he was wearing a ball cap, when he removed his hands from his head they were covered in blood. He is an ex-police man and knows about head wounds and applying pressure to stop the bleeding...but even after half an hour it hadn't really stopped much. Joe and I took him down the mountain to Urgent Care where the doc there put in 9 stiches. No concussion, but a lot of pain and a stiff neck. Then back up the mountain.... By the time we arrived back at his place, it was near 5pm and if we were to get back off the mountain in a bit of daylight Joe, Krystle, and I had to leave right away. Of course, it snowed all Sunday night, and Monday up at his place so now the building project has to wait until some of the snow melts. We are hoping to get back up and complete the barn in the next few weeks. 2006-10-18 21:52:18 GMT
