My Life. (Or lack thereof)

For all of you who think I don't cook anymore!

Hey Everyone!

Another week come and gone, with no positive answers on any of the applications I turned in. So, today I decided to NOT wallow in self pity and made myself stay busy here at home.

I started out with plans to put a soup on. I made a very beefed up barley and lentel soup that has been on the back burner for about 5 hours now. Yes, the house smells great! BUT...since most of you know, soups don't take long to prepare, so I decided to make rolls to go with the soup. Not out of a box rolls, or out of a freezer either. I made them from scratch, kneading....raising...shaping...raising again...then baking. Since I didn't need two dozen of them, I made half the dough into cinnamon sticky buns for tomorrows breakfast. While I was waiting for the dough to rise, and I already had baking stuff out, I made a batch of sugar cookies. I cut them out in fall leaves and Halloween shapes, as you can see. Those finished just in time for the bread rolls to go into the oven. Perfect timing, and totally unplanned! I have been busy in the kitchen for about five hours. I haven't cooked like this in a very long time and I have really missed it.

OK, so there is an upside to not having a job! Another perk is I am home at noon when Krystle comes home for lunch. Of course, her being a senior in High School, I am not allowed to make her a lunch to have ready when she shows up. But there are ways around that....today I just finished putting together a tuna sandwich with some chips on a plate as she walked in. Of course, she wanted one too, and I said...."Here, take mine. I can make another since I don't have a schedule to keep". Of course, that was the evil mother plan all along. I wonder if she is going to catch on? It was grilled cheese the other day, and a pizza hot pocket on another.....

Well, enough chatter...I have a sink full of dishes to put into the dishwasher, a load of laundry to put into the dryer, and Joe is showing up for dinner about 7 (Its 6:30 now). I just had to take a break and sit for a moment.--
